I went for it! No problems!
Only on my laptop though, which was already running Wayland, my desktop is X.org so I’m holding off on that for a wee while. Laptop is Intel integrated on i7, desktop is AMD 6600

i tried to even set this up in pacman.conf using group ignore… its a hell on dependencies … the only way is to simply do not do any update
Running on a full AMD system built a few months back, and oddly enough, it’s been surprisingly flawless for me…
Sounds normal to me.
Fair, just asking because wayland was usable on 5.27… I guess I’ll wait
Those are pretty strong words… Especially for a compositor that can’t even run Xeyes.
I had no problem running Xeyes under Xwayland
(ofc the eyes only work with other Xwayland windows)
Plasma 6 has installed this vlc
-player together with phonon
without being asked. How can I get rid of vlc
without breaking phonon
?
With every dependency that I have to uninstall to get rid of vlc
, phonon
is broken a little more or complete.
Normally I would wait, but I could no longer. I use Polonium extension which turns Kwin into an automatic tiling window manager. As a former Qtile user, I can’t live without auto tiling; its not possible. With the upgrade to Plasma 6+Wayland the script no longer works and I decided to install it from git-source. Some shortcuts still don’t work…
Other than that, it seems to be solid so far.
…
There is some contradiction in your words
I’m not talking about hate. It was just that everything was set up as convenient for me, and in an instant it turned out that I was in a “foreign” system
Not sure what contradiction you mean. I could no longer wait to upgrade Plasma 6, which is independent from my other statement. If there was no way of auto tiling windows, I would probably not use KDE, because stacking window managers are unusable to me. Edit: I feel so unsmart right now.
Unfortunately, that’s the reality of a rolling distro. It rolls.
And especially Plasma and ɢɴᴏᴍᴇ, they have very active development and change a lot over time.
Hello from the other side!
Well, at least the multi-monitor config on Wayland has started instantly as it’s was on the X11.
Rolled back to the state before the update. I will wait until the end of the month. Maybe something will be fixed…
I’m sure a lot of issues will be fixed. But it will be different from Plasma 5.
What was broken. I didn’t see all that much change in my config.
Same for me, except just couple of options…
As long as you switched to X11 everything should be fine ™
Apart from ksysguard
is no more
May I recommend htop
as an alternative? It’s only slightly bloated.
