Yeah i think the metal roof is the big issue because my desktop witch is a good 6 feet further away has 90% signal strength and never disconnects and it’s also fighting through the concrete wall but because it isn’t right by my window it isn’t trying to pull the signal through the metal roof usually that system is hard wired though the only time i use wifi on that one is when the dog keeps coming in and pulling the cord out. I’ll try using my phone data and just turning off the wifi and see if it makes a difference. I did leave the system off for a bit and started it again and it booted really fast logged in really fast connected to wifi instantly and was snappy. It cycled through my workspaces instantly and opened a broswer instantly then about 20 seconds later i tried again and it was back to a crawl again. I let it sit for about 10 minutes and now it’s snappy again it just can’t make up it’s mind apparently. I will say the wifi issue has been present the whole time I’ve owned this system but the super slow behavior is new within the last month or two.
It’s interesting that you’re getting variable performance there. Perhaps try tailing your journal, so you can see in realtime any errors and the corresponding result. Have this running in a visible terminal:
journalctl -f
Log entries will update in realtime.
Outdated configurations can cause issues with the system, you need to update your existing configurations with the help of pacnew files, this is a manual process, because you don’t want to lose configurations you have changed. Please google pacnew.
mirrorlists will come up too with pacdiff, they’re no relevant for this problem, I just wanted to say, that you can overwrite your existing mirrorlist with pacnew without comparing them.
Bad wifi shouldn’t be a cause for slowdowns, unless your issues manifest with internet based applications
I don’t see anything too bad in your journal, but the journal is the best place when looking for issues, you should use the suggested journalctl commands to get to the bottom of this.

Just a warning for overwriting a file like /etc/pacman.d/ mirrorlist (from arch) with a pacnew file.
You probably will end up with a file where the server list looks like this e.g.

So all of the servers on the list will be totally useless , unless you edit the mirrorlist by removing the # in front of the server.

I always overwrite with pacnew file, and they get ranked, I have no pacnew file when I run the ranking.

come on dude, why do you copy the mirrorlist file? You can rank a commented out mirrorlist.
This is a copy of a (now .bak file) as I received it as a pacnew file from Arch. Have seen a few people over here that used this file and they couldn’t update because of it I am not making this up “dude”.
Here is a example Synchronizing all databases failed (no servers are configured for the repository)
well if they don’t rank it, of course it’s not going to work
there’s no pacnew file in the package you can see it here https://archlinux.org/packages/core/any/pacman-mirrorlist/, it gets created by pacman during update, when any config has been modified
this is how I did for years, I just rank the original file from the package, no pacnew file there when I run the ranking, same thing with .bak files. I just tried it out I have reinstalled pacman-mirrorlist overwrote the mirrorlist with the pacnew and deleted the .pacnew file and .bak too
After checking the mirrorlist file I see that reflector-simple gets the mirrors from https://archlinux.org/mirrors/status/json/ I assumed it just checked the commented out mirrors too.
That is why my commented out mirrorlist got updated after running it.
So you can just delete or skip mirrorlist .pacnew files when you are going through pacnew files with pacdiff
