I think I’ve already managed to ruin my OS. This morning I did an update and got a message saying that my mirror list had a pacnewd. I let it overwrite.
The result: I can no longer update. I now get the message:
all databases failed to synchronize (no servers are set up for the repository)
What did I do wrong and what can I learn from this? Thanks in advance for helping me out again!
Think this mat have been caused by the updated mirrorlist coming from Arch, in this mirrorlist all servers have a # in front of them, meaning they will not work because of it. There should be a backup file made in etc/pacman.d. You can either rename the backup file or edit the existing mirrorlist by opening it with a editor and choose the option replace and next replace #Server with Server and click on replace all. Next save the file and go to the welcome screen and choose the reflector simple option to rank the mirrorrs. Editing the file will give you the most recent mirrors available.
I did open the backup file but I can not save it because it is ‘only read’
Well I meant the file called mirrorlist not the backup file.
OK, I opened the file mirrorlist with:
sudo nano /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist
Then I replaced #server by Server and now, I am able again to update my system. You are a hero!![]()
