Odysee works. Maybe not as much clips as YouTube has. But I’m trying to get out of Google’s hands a little bit. It’s just YouTube I miss
Article here: https://blog.ipfire.org/post/why-not-wireguard
I used Mullvad for years but just switched to Mozilla VPN to support them. Mozilla VPN runs on Mullvad wireguard servers, ironically. I actually prefer the Mozilla VPN desktop app to Mullvad’s but you can’t go wrong with either one.
ProtonVPN is also a strong choice.
The people at privacytools.io have done a lot of work investigating VPN providers and here is their list: https://privacytools.io/providers/vpn/
Just now moved to Mullvad. So far all looks good, wonder how I’ll feel after a month or so…
It is somewhat interesting that under jurisdiction, they state:
Operating outside the five/nine/fourteen-eyes countries is not a guarantee of privacy necessarily, and there are other factors to consider. However, we believe that avoiding these countries is important if you wish to avoid mass government dragnet surveillance
But the recommendation at the top of the list, mullvadvpn, is in a 14 eyes country(Sweden).
It’s difficult to meet all the criteria, so I believe the providers listed meet most of them. I’ve also read that the “eyes” issue is not as important because if these players really want your information, there isn’t much to stop them regardless of what country. With exceptions of course.
A VPN definitely gives people a false sense of security, but it’s a layer worth having IMHO.
I have mixed feelings on it personally.
On the one hand, I don’t have a lifestyle for which government surveillance would be an overly concerning thing.
On the other hand, I have a couple of concerns
- The privacy minded person in me doesn’t like anyone gathering my data, no matter the reason
- I feel like it is only a matter of time before one of the government entities hoovering up my data gets breached and then who knows who has it or what they will do with it
I saw it and think it sounds crazy! I don’t live in the USA so don’t know how everything works there.
It doesn’t sound so crazy in few other places of the world though, given what’s going on in USA lately - no surprise at all
Expect
in all stores nearby!
P.S.
HONK-HONK
Can I ask, how serious do people take Rob Braxman given that he’s in the market of selling services? Aren’t his vids thinly veiled infomercials for the stuff he’s peddling?
Sometimes I think he’s full of shit. But sometimes it’s good shit too! You have to take everything according to your own sense.
About as serious as I take more or less everyone else on youtube. They are all selling themselves or something else.
While one can, occasionally, find great videos on YouTube, one should never forget that this is all done for the clout, and what gets clout is determined by the omnipotent Algorithm.
So, the YouTube game consists of trying to make a suitable offering at the altar of the Algorithm, and if that pleases the Algorithm, you get rewarded with clout: upcummies, views, subs and ad revenue. And if it should happen that your offering makes for an interesting and useful video, that is all the better, but of secondary importance only. The incentives on YouTube are completely messed up.
I’ve gone over to Odysee. Google has run me over so many times so am not happy. The last one was when they removed Google Music. I had bought several 100 music albums there. Everything was transferred to YouTube music. Which is a worse service in my opinion. You can’t download your own purchased music there either.
Imagine having to have internet connection in order to listen to music. What a dystopian nightmare that would be…
Most of people kinda living it already and are happy
fscking CLOUD aka other people’s computers…
Rob Braxman made another clip about this:
I haven’t heard of anyone else who had problems with their VPN. However, I have not read much about it either.
Has anyone?
Thanks!
