First update in almost 50 days. Everything went nice and smooth. Update from 5.4 → 5.10. And who says Arch isn’t stable? Rapidly approaching the 1 year mark since install. I’ve purposely been avoiding updates, and seeing just how simple and stupid I can treat Arch and have everything keep on rolling. stat / | grep Birth pulls 5.1.2020. Still haven’t broken anything.
I like a little spice in my life sometimes. But, Plasma is by far my favorite DE. A year ago, I was still on the fence, and I’m really trying to get to the one year mark and didn’t want to ruin this install. Cinnamon is my second favorite DE out there though.
Although I may have a buyer for this computer, so it may not quite make a year. . .
Edit: Be on the lookout . . . my next computer. . . .may not even be Arch based
While I can’t get on board with GNOME, I’ll forgive you (for now) and you’re in very good company with some ThinkPad fans here!! I’m a former E460 and 3rd Gen X1 Carbon.
Haha, I have 16G and I have a lot of firefox tabs open, in addition to some sort of compilation going on, and often a Zoom call and a Discord window (+ stuff like text editors); I frequently sit at around 30% CPU and 9-11G ram. Unused x is wasted x… no complaints!
I remember as a kid when my Dad brought home his new laptop for work and it was an IBM with that cool nipple mouse. I loved it. Probably explains why I love Thinkpads so much today.
