What about pamac-aur-git
?
Either should work.
The stable version is pamac-aur. The unstable version is pamac-aur-git.
It’s easier to click a few buttons than typing long commands
Less time consuming
That’s all
Is Cronie a nickname for timeshift? or is it something else entirely? After reading through this thread I’m not certain.
They both work. I originally (by accident) installed pamac-aur-git, but you have to install the tray-icon app separately if you want the tray notification/app. Pamac-aur has both combined in the one app.
Is Cronie a nickname for timeshift?
No, Cronie is a cron-job process, I believe, that automates the hourly/daily/weekly backups of timeshift. I perform my timeshift updates manually, so in this type of usage, you would not need to install it.
I only ever install Pamac so I can browse packages. Outside of browsing I always install & update using Pacman. Far better tool IMO.
hello,on the other hand aur’s software: yay -S the name software
for browsing packages & aur only i use pkgbrowser from aur
Different packages. Timeshift needs cronies to automate timed backups.
In EOS you need to install cronie too for Timeshift to work.
Cronie is a daemon that implements cron, which is a job scheduler from the old days of UNIX.
It is a way to schedule programs or scripts to run at certain times. Programs like Timeshift, for example, which can periodically create snapshots.

depend mostly what your preference are. timeshift-autosnap does work with rsync, and pacman…so you create basicly every update a backup you can revert.
There are several differences. The EOS is becoming more stable, more mature, and easier to use than the Manjaro. I am writing this because I have been using the former for a year (still antergos the year before) and the latter for two years on a daily basis.
Manjaro 7-8 years
Jeez, that was a long time
In an ooniverse far far away…
I'm afraid I overdid it.
You know what’s really great in here?
Nobody gives a crap about those stats or time, it’s not some crazy rat race of experiences
Just, buckle up, try to help each other when you can, and enjoy your riiiide!
This is the spirit of EOS!
Mostly… we Endeavour! :enos:
If there is nobody in this forum who is interested in statistics, why does this info page still exist?
Shouldn’t you remove it then?
By the way a nice choice of words you use here in this very friendly forum.
