Just say yes to replace

Plasma 6 is coming to Arch… at some point

All of the KDE Frameworks packages are being renamed with a “5” at the end (e.g. karchive > karchive5). This means a lot of package updates that need a manual input this weekend  but hopefully means that Plasma 6 packages are coming to test soon.

you can keep an eye on the KDE-unstable repo, that’s the first place where Plasma 6 will be available - but I wouldn’t count on it being soon. my guess would be early 2024, maybe very late 2023

Yes, I’ve updated 4 times this morning…with virtually all being k* being moved into extra.
I hope I’ve got it mostly done now…because my ‘y’ finger is getting tired.

4 times? That’s very ambitious
I am waiting for the KDE-6 also but I not going to waste my time on unstable, maybe I’ll look at it in a vm?

Remember there is yes |

Just to be clear, the packages are not being moved into extra, they were already in the extra repo. They’ve been renamed with a 5 added as a suffix.

Yes, of course…but then I risk ‘yes’ to something I don’t want lol.
Up to 6 updates now…all but the last asking me to move something to extra lol
And yes, I understand the need.

Again, nothing is being moved, this is just a regular update to the packages, the only difference is that the package has been renamed with a 5 added at end - baloo is now nameed baloo5, kactivities is now named kactivities5, etc.

I get it…you can stop telling me;)
There is a change that requires my input…and I call it moved, which probably is technically incorrect…but that is what the action looks like on my end. over

Nothing got moved into extra, packages just got renamed. Just in case it wasn’t clear.

btw, nothing got moved into extra…

Hah, keep it up and I’m gonna have frog legs for dinner, Kresmir

I don’t even want to know what you gonna do with :rofl:

Arch’s KDE-Unstable might see RC’s though. That’s why my guess is:

I was saying yes to everything, but at the end I got this message

:: attica5 and attica are in conflict. Remove attica? [y/N]
error: unresolvable package conflicts detected
error: failed to prepare transaction (conflicting dependencies)
:: attica5 and attica are in conflict (attica<5.111)

How can I update without running into conflicts?

You would have to answer yes to that one.

hello; the only iso with plasma6 is from our friends at kaOS linux
