[Archlinux]pacman 6.0 and pamac-aur compatibility

Maybe we can start a therapy group in the lounge.

The Arch notifier is a like a present that pops up and screams…“Put the hot pocket down and …OPEN ME, NOW!”

It is like that x 10.

Well, thank you doctor Sigmund Freud Jr. How much do we have to pay you for this diagnostic?

I’m in a teasing mood this afternoon.

I hope you won’t take it the wrong way!

Don’t forget those of us on the next level…

It is not enough to know that there are updates (there usually are). Some of us want to how many - some want to know from where - some want to know exactly WHAT too! At least I assume that’s why I have vertically scrolling list of all pending updates, and the same for AUR updates too!

No - it isn’t actually obtrusive - because it doesn’t ‘pop up’ too often, it is just there in the background, scrolling away… but it IS nice when you are waiting for something in particular - a new version of Welcome, or yay, or the kernel, or…

There’s therapy for that - switch to Gentoo, then you won’t have time between compiling stuff like Firefox before next update

Actually, you can often get the same effect by using AUR versions of things, and doing a complete rebuild every time!

Such a compromise in order to avoid true neckbeard

I’d like to be notified before the notifier pops up, is this possible?

Removed pamac, as waiting for repair updates from manjaro
I installed packagekit-qt5 then over https://apps.kde.org/apper/
installed Apper seems quite handy …

There are problems with pretty much anything packagekit-based

  • There is no support for manual intervention which is sometimes required with repo operations which makes it somewhat dangerous to use for updates.
  • There is no AUR support.

I only use Pamac since it is easier to remember than sudo pacman -Rns $(pacman -Qtdq) to delete orphans, LOL!

I use aura or aura-bin for that.

aura -O shows orphans, aura -Oj removes them.

I could probably remember that one!

I use fish and it remembers commands I type, so I don’t have to!

I eat fish so I don’t have to rely on memory aids

There’d be no fish left in the ocean if I ate enough to make up for the amount of tequila I drink.

Oh no! Just keep “using” fish then for the sake of bio diversity!

I love fish for eating, but not so much for a shell.
