The Arch way requires 2 computers and yeah, it takes about 45 minutes. Installing from EndeavourOS USB stick is about a 10 minute install, and it updates as it installs…so it’s totally done.
For me is either LFS (Linux From Scratch) or a distro with graphic installer and some configurations and customization.
Having far too little time/skills for the former, I am grateful towards the people that make the latter possible.
But you still have to download Arch and create a usb also. EndeavourOS is an Arch installer so i understand what @tlmiller76 is saying. Once you have an ISO of Arch sure it’s already lying around. I have installed Arch the Arch way also a number of times and it is a good lesson to understand how. I struggle at times just remembering all the steps. It isn’t for everyone though after they have done it.
And that’s my opinion as well. I’ve done the Arch way. I can’t remember every step as I’m a blonde. So it requires a second computer to make sure to do it right. Last time I did an Arch-way install was actually like 2013-ish. I just don’t find it worth doing anymore. Takes too long, too much walking back and forth to my other computer to make sure I don’t miss steps, too much missing steps because I accidentally scrolled, etc…
Sorry i have one computer and only one.
It would be better to state you don’t have a clue and use the GUI than make up a load of excuses nobody will think bad of you not even me
Plus what has this got to do with An interesting Rant On Arch Users?
No you don’t read the arch wiki
So am I whats that got to do with it i’m a OAP.
For some there is only The Arch Way or no way. I guess that is also a way.
Not wanting to do extra ridiculous steps, or remembering 50 manual steps to accomplish things isn’t “not having a clue”. It’s not wanting to waste ones time with stupid things. AKA - doing it the ARch way. Some people just like doing things the hard way, and feel proud that they wasted their time. Hey, it takes all types…
And your way

Fwiw, the last few times I bothered, I just pulled the wiki up on my phone to follow along. Less walking involved.
I can’t use my phone for this type of things, tooo small a screen. Literally other than making calls I don’t use my phone on the internet. My eyes are REALLY bad, and it’s REALLY hard to read things on it.
Jeez…People this days doesn’t catch meme references
There’s literally nothing wrong with not doing things the “Arch way.” No one is saying anyone has to do anything any way what so ever. User Endeavor. It’s fantastic! It can be a waste of time. Hell, installing Arch over and over doesn’t even make you good at Linux, just eventually you’re good at installing Arch! Haha
The caveat is if you’re going to go to the Arch forums and actually expect help, you either need to do it the Arch way, or expect to have your thread closed because you don’t fit their criteria for help.
Not saying there is, just pointing out that
It would be better to state you don’t have a clue and use the GUI than make up a load of excuses
Is incorrect. Some people just don’t like to waste time…
