I just got to the part where they state Microsoft Pluton will be integrated in the CPU. For some unknown reason I just fear a faul play from MS in the future. I hope I am wrong.

This is the first time I hear about it, and it is making me sick. A “security” product from Micro$oft embedded in the CPU. Absolutely disgusting, and probably a back door.

Liar, i was screaming from the rooftops!!!11 :frog:

This is definitely exactly what it looks like.

Jesus Christ, it’s like from 0 to Deus Ex in 60 seconds…

Oh right! I totally forgot. Sorry!

There are so many new “security” products that try to backdoor you, that it’s getting impossible to keep track of all of them.

It’s for your safety. :male_detective:
Although this one is top of the list, because it’s for all CPUs…which is INSANE.

From the sound of the information so far, it may only be active when used with Windows - or, of course, it may cause only Windows to operate ‘properly’ on them. Hard to believe it’s going to be in everything - even ARM stuff from Qualcomm!

I may be looking at keeping my current systems going for a long time - well, as long as I’ve got anyway!

Correction, nobody claims it is for your safety. Just for safety - and if you look at it from the position of a corporation it will be safety of their intelectual properly.

This “backdoor feature” is only for Ryzen 6000 (mobile) and 7000 (desktop)…
5800x3D is safe, right ?

@freebird54
I don’t know, even if it won’t technically work on Linux (which you can’t really check, just like with Intel Management Engine and alike, at least those you can disable with a lot of work…) - it’s still a hardware backdoor, obviously…

Think about the children!!!1111™ :scream: :scream_cat:

I thought about them and their personal data will be collected as well. Happy?

Surely not! Haven’t you provided them with Raspberry Pi’s? They should be safe from such ‘enhancements’ for quite a while… and they can run EndeavourOS which should give them all they need.

Soon, you’ll be prohibited from opening your PC case. That’s the ultimate goal, complete abolition of property rights in your hardware.

Think I’m overreacting? Already, in the current year, you are not permitted to open the hood of some electric cars. [YouTube]

I don’t know…as long as they’re thinking about a giraffe.

If not, we’ll beat the hell out of you until you’re happy, KGB style.

It’s another add on to the stupid TPM that they have where by if you don’t have it or the right version your hardware can’t upgrade.

It’s like having Microsoft Edge browser. Garbage! Nothing but ads and tracking. I think it needs a UEFI Bios setting to disable it!

What even does safe mean? I mean we can’t possibly expect for them to have gone black overnight. If they’re black now we can assume they’ve been so for some time now. It’s just acceptable to come out now. So what are we gonna do? Not use computers and phones? I mean that would be the smart thing to do. We’re gonna boil over like frogs … :frog:
