I’ve never had issues with multi monitor in xfce. Right now I just run 2 but I’ve run 3 in the past with no issues as well. Xfce has just always been solid all around for me and plenty customizable even if it’s not the nicest looking by default.

Can you give me one bug, which I can replicate in 5 minutes on a default Plasma setup, which is so bad that is preventing you from using it?

In general kde works well but it is not bug free and that is my point. There are still annoyances for me else I would be using it. I do minimalistic changes to the system, mostly dark/light theme and perhaps add an icon theme.

Here after 5 min using it by changing global theming.

Plasma global theme can’t uninstall community theme

Ok, I just installed eos kde plasma to try on my thinkpad. still running gnome on my other computer First thing I did was to go to global theme and I installed the nordic them to try it out. How can I deinstall this theme? I went on get new global theme and filtered installed themes but nothing shows up. I also went into /usr/share/plasma/look-feel but only see the breeze theme. The nordic theme is definitely still in the gui settings and available to choose but no way to deinsta…

of course I am not going to switch away from eos! I switched to gnome 2-3 months ago (before used kde). Although it works great, I am not a huge fan of the workflow for long term use. Therefore installed kde plasma on my Lenovo with hybrid Intel/Nvidia card last Sunday and used it at work every day. Its 2022, what DE/WM will you be using/switching to?

I am using xfce/i3 but started using cinnamon on my other computer and will see if I will stick to it. I like the way gtk apps menus and icons look like and it’s a good compromise between gnome and kde. Plus it supports different fractional scaling on multiple monitors with different resolution. If zoom screen sharing would work on kde I would probably use kde but it still not resolved for me. It just flashes and shows artifacts even on Intel graphics.

Some of these are my personal use cases of course. But there are also basic settings.

I’m not sure, how that would happen, my only indication is that touch “works” in the loginscreen but it “doesn’t” in the X11 session.
Weirdly enough in a Wayland session unplugging and replugging crashes it, on i3/plasma only replugging it.
In any case, this wouldn’t be the nail in the coffin, I just like i3/sway better as my WM and as KDE doesn’t work with sway (yet) it has to go

But the bugs are the annoyances…

If I install plasma and I get bugs by just adjusting the global theme and icons, and kde is praised for it’s customizability… Not sure what to say.

Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s a great DE and anything I get I am grateful as I haven’t filed any bug reports or didn’t participate at coding any of this.

Just presenting my empirical (subjective free) observations.

I agree some global themes are garbage! I don’t know where they come from but i just use the ones that work.

Edit: I usually just set my background and possibly use different icons. I honestly don’t find it that bad as it’s not something i typically am constantly changing. If a theme doesn’t work i just try something else.

I totally agree with @Kresimir apart from my preferred applications. For me it’s Kate & Krusader but hey, each to their own? If I were to go to a terminal only UI it would be a sad day cause they can be beautifu

I agree, If a theme doesn’t work I will try something else. I’ve found that the more recently updated and regularly updated the theme the more likely it will work and continue to work.

Lately on plasma I could not do the change of my avatr, I found the solution on: if I can be of help I put the solution. Until the developer’s fix it, this is reported to work: The issue is with the service file for AccountsService: sudo nano /usr/lib/systemd/system/accounts-daemon.service this is set to PrivateTmp=true setting it to: PrivateTmp=false and reboot will solve it

Yes you can …you just change a configuration. No extensions needed!

To me extensions are like what ppa’s are to arch. Hopefully kde plasma will not get gnomisized and start using extensions, but we never know?!

Besides, I don’t see it as particularly limiting. It’s a bit like saying: “by not banging your head against a wall, you limit the amount of headache you have.”
