If you consider the term “open source” to be a subversion of the Free Software movement (which most people in the Free Software movement do), then it makes sense to point out the difference. And yes, GNU/Linux should be used instead of just Linux, especially when it is important to point out the difference with other OSs that use Linux as the kernel, like Android.
Jokes are included, e.g. in the explanation of “PC”.
But jokes aside, that in particular is just bashing…

Not Windows by default, but there are many bash versions available to Windows…
