There wasn’t one, I just set it up because we received complaints from members receiving PMs and posts where they were called names or being sworn at.
It’s not about being PC, but maintaining this project with a very small team is hard work enough already without the addition of going through numerous of posts to check things out.
People who have been with us long enough should understand that.

It’s just that solution is…not optimal, at best.
It’s very easy to circumvent for an offender.
How many such offenders you got?
I bet it’s about 2 in year, or something close to that.
Warning x2 + if it is ignored = ban

Just read your solution again and see it through the eyes of people who are doing this just for the fun of it.
I did, my solution is still better, for the reason that those who want to do it - will circumvent that filter and continue to do so, unless warned or banned.
Which means you will have to deal with it regardless of having filter enabled.
Yes, the filer is trivial to bypass if you have ill intentions, but is very disturbing to the normal conversation.
Yeah, right. I think you can count all the times I publicly wrote a swearword on this forum on one hand (in over 8400 posts I made), cursing is just not a part of my regular vocabulary. So, I’m not complaining about this because I’m immature and just want to say bad words.

More like DELIBRATE. Unless a PM is reported by the person receiving it it shuld be hands off to EVERYONE.
I’m not even asking to change anything, just saying it likely won’t help you solve that problem at all.
All i’m asking - just be honest about it, next time someone will keep writing some obscenities in PM with replaced characters, because there’s some asshole with a sole goal of being an asshole.

The filter is really poorly implemented.
You can’t even share links to certain AUR packages, like a compiler for a very popular programming language. Not to mention code that contains an unlucky sequence of characters.
