In general, I agree with you. But a good scotch is one of the most delicious things out there. I almost wish there wasn’t a buzz because it’s so easy to completely lose control. It’s like liquid candy for adults.
On a hot day there is nothing more refreshing.
Water and Cigars only. Cigars for pleasure and Water for thirst. I have drunk so much beer and Whiskey in my life that is enough for three lifes
I just don’t like the effect of alcohol (anymore).
There are more pleasant drugs than alcohol out there
Nothing?! Dr. Rockso can think of something…
Valid opinion, however I’m one of those who do love the taste of whisky, specifically of the Scotch, Irish, and Japanese variety. I do not get drunk on the daily, just the one dram after work; a little bit more if there’s an occasion. I’m not a fan of “smooth”, “easy to drink” liquor as I find them to be pointless, and lacking in flavor, with the only purpose of ingesting it is to be either intoxicated and/or show it off as a status symbol.
Fair and valid!
Man, candy for adults is an amazing way to say it!
- Smoking → I am trying to quit but I am too weak. I smoke only 4-6 cigs/per day
- Coke → sugar is a hell of a drug!
- Methylphenidate → Makes act like normal human being and keeps me more focused
- Potato Chips →
- Alcohol → Not so much anymore. I use to be heavy drinker but these days I very rarely drink a few beers and stay away from anything stronger. I gues am just old and can’t deal those hangovers anymore
Hey man, congratulations on decreasing smoking and alcohol consumption. As a medical professional, Im proud of you and I know you can do it. I used to smoke a pack a day and I’ve been clean of cigs for > 10 years now. You can do it too! Either cold turkey or little by little, decrease your tobacco consumption as you see fit! It’s never too late!
I like monastery beer, specifically Trappist Ale from Belgium.
Apart from this exquisite beer, I also enjoy good mead, homemade rakija, a nice cup of tea, hot chocolate, nice single malt whisky, a glass of good wine, freshly squeezed fruit juice, and, of course, ice cold water.
Delicious! In southeast Asia we have a very limited selection of Trappist beers or beers made in the Trappist style. My favorite happens to be Chimay but I’m seeing less and less of it these days
Used to be Bacardi’s Anejo and no pulp orange juice, and an occasional craft beer at a local brewery.
However, adult onset diabetes Type 2 happened and alcohol is verboten. So now it is an occasional craft beer with dinner at a restaurant.
Pudge
Oh I’m sorry, hope your sugar levels are well managed
Occasional drink shouldn’t be so bad though. 30cc of hard liquor or 120cc of wine especially, should have an insignificant effect on blood sugar. Anything else may spike it a little bit though
Very good, I see you are a man of culture!
Which one? Red? White? Blue?
For me, it’s Blue all the way, but the others are quite nice, too. Even though there are Belgian ales I like much more than it, I would never say no to a glass of any Chimay, but especially Blue.
Have you tried Chimay cheeses, by any chance? They are as excellent as their beer. Almost impossible to buy where I live, tragically…
Have you tried Orval? It’s one of my favourites…
Delicious!
I lived in Fort Worth TX for several years. There was a local bar (Fox & The Hound) that offered Maredsous on tap. They had $
pint nights. Being Texas, they had Shiner and some watery domestics available. As well as Maredsous.
I got all my friends into it and plenty other nice foreign crafts.
Maredsous is okay. It’s on the lower end of really good beer, in my opinion, but I wouldn’t say no to a glass.
