Always KDE, Plasma is beautiful, it is light in resources and fast. I just wish the whole PIM suite was better, Kontact/Kmail, etc. as a result, I use Thunderbird which isn’t really integrated into the desktop.
I’ve been using Xfce for quite some time because it’s stable, customizable pretty well, and runs well on old hardware.
KDE and XFCE are neck on neck…
Curious how this will end!
Xfce will win!
maybe, maybe not
I don’t think that’s surprising. KDE is a Windows-like DE, and Xfce is the most stable desktop environment.
The last poll KDE won.
win what?
The most stable desktop environment?
which windom manager
rs that?
Viva Gnome!
A cookie!
Is that foreshadowing?
Yes; PHP/Javascript/MySQL mainly.
And my daily driver is Cinnamon.
Yes, I am.
Main languages:
- Shell scripting (simple stuff for work)
- Python scripting (the more advanced stuff)
- Ruby (needed for puppet automation)
- HTML/CSS/JS (for my own website)
- And if you count SQL I guess that as well.
I know C++ and C pretty well, I’m quite competent at R, Python, FORTRAN, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Go, and I’m learning Rust (slowly). I am also somewhat decent at shell scripting and I really enjoy writing small programs in Awk.
- JavaScript
- html
- css
- ActionScript
- Bash / shell
- Python
- Basic
- Ruby (a little)
- C (very long time ago and briefly)
- C++ (can read something, haven’t really written too much)
Oh well…If i’d really like to and have some time - surely i can learn anything! (except SQL - i it, even if somebody would pay me - i won’t learn it!)
KDE Windows like? Mine looks more like a Mac in dark mode with blue trimmings. I guess it depends how you customize it. If my DE looked like Windows I’d have donated my laptop to a charity shop by now!
SQL - it isn’t so much learning to program in it - it’s learning the quirks of the environment you’re in that will use it! Not to mention it’s wedged-in security features…
