What do you guys and gals prefer to use as your daily driver

Now I’m all about thinkpads and the new nano has even tiner frames around the screen than the xps. But I’d like a T14 with AMD Ryzen 7
or a P series but they are soooooo expensive. I own only thinkpads and have done so for years they jsut works with Linux - they even ship with Linux now.

But I agree if MAcs were less expensive I wouldn’t mind having a Macbook Pro or an 5k imac. I had only positive experiences with MAc. I just disagreed on their move to intel - I feared viruses would come and a few year later I was proven right. I like how hardware and software just works. But they’ve had a lot of comlaints of faulty products thse last few years. Thinkpads on the other hand are great IMO

lol, I know … I nearly died when I saw how giant it is, but thought maybe leaving it would mean people using Mate might just see it  and could ‘like’ or reply +1, which could help with giving an option for Mate.

Yeah Thinkpads over Dell actually because of the use of AMD Ryzen. My next self-build is gonna be based on AMD because intel aren’t looking too clever nowadays, and nvidia have always been painful for me.

Yeah all my tp’s except one are intel only - one older a W541 has this qudra GPU which is very tricky - with linux and impossible with BSD

This has to be my last comment to you - just got a warning here that we should include others- but there are no others here so… Anyway I’ll stop.
Been nice talking to you at least

Wait until 5.20 or later then 6.0 appears …

I think the ship has already sailed as far as this thread is concerned, but at least we know there is a mate onboard

lol, yes … my giant neon billboard didn’t pull the crowds as hoped  … better get a rowboat, instead of the galleon, lol, and go find the others (lurkers come out, wherever you are!)

Feel free to ignore that, it is just part of discourse.

sure?
I don’t want to be banned for ignoring a warning

You’re not alone with this. I switched to AMD a few months ago and my first thought was: why didn’t I do it much earlier?

If you are talking about the message that overlays the preview pane, then, yes, I am sure.

yeah that was it

Yeah, my old Dell Optiplex has a Radeon I added to it and although the CPU is slow the graphics are fine for everyday use.

off topic are anyone here programmers or even on hobby basis?

XFCE on my desktop and i3WM on my laptop I take to university. i3 has very low resource usage allowing my battery to last longer and is perfect for note taking.

On my daily driver save my ass from everything computer. . . Cinnamon.

So GNOME? I guess technically? What would you suggest?

Off topic is dangerous - I seem to be addicted to it!

As for programming, a little bash, a little ‘C’, a little lua and a little conky pretty much covers it these days…

oh yeah Razor-qt was born out of antico

Leave the poll for a weeak before I close it - not everyone is here on a daily basis so those should also have their say. But after a week I think this has run its 's course - don’t you guys and gals (Did you see that @Mr_Ecks) agree - one week is enough?
