Wayland or xORG Vs X11?

I am not a Wayland developer but I understand the basics of how it works.

Because you wrote: ā€œBetter security on Wayland against keyloggersā€, but that is not true:

Someone who knows no one else should have access to their PC and wants to record all keystrokes, or compainies wanting to make sure their pcs are only used for specific tasks. As long as people know this is taking place I see no issue with it if the end user wants it and it is able to be turned off/on and off is the default

But you proved my point, it would be an ungodly pain in the ass to make a keylogger that would work on wayland without root access, itā€™s not that hard for X.

Iā€™m talking about malicious keyloggers here.

@smokey it was sorta a figure of speech, i know creepy big brother wants to be able to spy on you, and I know extremely paranoid people do extremely weird things sometimes. I can also even think of a very small handful of practical applications for such a keylogger.

Iā€™m going to press X to doubt. There are keyloggers for Waylandā€¦

Have you personally experienced any security issue on X? I havenā€™tā€¦

Show me a keylogger for wayland. On wayland I cannot even have an application that has a global shortcut (like say a screen recorder that has a specific key combination to start recording) unless that application itself is selected.

As for what I think about it, well it is more secure sure, but refer to wayland cons 4-6, this is a perfect example of them.

As for security issues on X, let me thinkā€¦

No, I havenā€™t personally experienced anyā€¦ Only the keylogger one is obvious to me.

Took me less than 2 seconds of searching:

Iā€™m going to need to see some more evidence than ā€œsureā€, before I believe such wild claims.

Ok you win.

Iā€™ve edited the post, I hope youā€™re happy now.

Iā€™m not happy, Iā€™m suffering for literally nothing. I mean I do like Hyprland, but now i find myself sorta wishing I could just have it on X instead, thereā€™d be like 800 fewer holes for me to plug there.

I use dwm, and have no desire to ever use Wayland. Switching from Plasma to dwm significantly reduced my suffering. I like dwm because itā€™s so simple that I can understand its source code, so I can hack it and patch it and do with it what I want.

I switched from plasma to hyprland, iā€™ve been meaning to switch from plasma for ages, and i happened to try hyprland and it worked, first time wayland has ever, in any sense of the word worked for me.

Dwm looks like it might be kinda fun, iā€™ll probably try it next time i feel like switching.
