The UK parliament passed bill to outlaw encryption

No, the distinction is certainly valid.

All data you share in the internet is voluntary. If you implement Amazon Alexa in your home and let it listen to all you are saying, it your own choice. If you share pictures in the internet it is your choice (i for example do not use cloud backups and do not share my pictures in the internet).

If you are not using these “smart home” services your house is a save place.

That’s not 100% accurate. Governments use cloud storage and cloud services as well to provide services to their citizens. Some data will be stored on local host storage and other in cloud storage or services, depending on the type of data stored.

Currently, it is still possible not to be part of IoT. But who knows for how long? Soon, your toaster will refuse to work unless it can phone home.

Now, a toaster is a simple thing and can be hacked, but with more complicated things, where safety is a big concern, like water heaters and AC units, that might become a problem in a couple of years.

Sorry, but you are off topic. We are talking about private chats or pictures that you put in the internet. And some people do expect that this is 100 % save for them. And I am questioning this. I am saying that at least law enforcement must have the possibility to search through some Content and some group chats.

I know. That’s why I used words like “becoming”, “increasingly”, “approaching”.

Are you sure you meant this post as a direct reply to me?

If pressed, I’d also argue that we are actually well past that point for the average person. How many people disconnect all microphones and cameras from all laptops and phones in their home? Is it reasonable to expect the average Joe to understand what using Alexa means from a network and privacy standpoint? Non-technical people deserve privacy too.

Yeah, we are having a conversation. That’s how conversations work, I reply to you, you reply to me. I agree with you, relax

I know that Alexa has awoken a lot of normies in my personal circles, at least. They thought getting one would be cool, but then they started to suspect it, because it is REALLY intrusive. Now some of them are no longer normies.

This whole thread is just really really depressing.

The world is really really depressing. All I wish is for freedom. I can’t believe how many people (especially governments) who don’t believe in freedom. It’s so sad, and people are willing to give my little bit away so easily.

I’ll probably never be able to have kids at this rate. It’s to the point I can’t even raise them anymore. Ugh.

Come on great meteor!!

But Bender, robots can’t have kids! :robot:

P.S. Unless you’ll create your own with black’jack and hookers!

That’s by design, they don’t want more of the likes of you, who desire freedom. But don’t worry, they’ll import kids from the third-world to substitute for the kids that never were.

I’ll tell ya what, it’s hard not to see that as a possibility.
