The UK parliament passed bill to outlaw encryption

Hmmmm, never heard of Session before, will take a look at it right now

It’s a bit less friendly for complete normies, because it doesn’t use phone number like i’ve mentioned…But that’s exactly what makes it much safer by definition.

Yes I’ve used Signal myself too in the past but am not currently. All I’m saying is that I personally don’t have a problem if they were to do it this way scanning the message before it’s encrypted and sent. Then if something comes up it gets flagged and backed up for review before being encrypted and sent. If they find it’s nothing then it’s nothing. If they find criminal activity then it’s reported. I have no issue with this. I know there are problems with language barriers and slang etc. but I’m sure they can over come this in time.

Sounds similar to Threema where you don’t have to know someone’s phone number in order to message someone.

Sure, if you are ok with it, you shouldn’t worry.

I personally don’t like this idea at all, so I’ll be looking at other options for messaging apps.

Yep, but it also uses onion layers like Tor (infrastructure based on their blockchain protocol to support network and fast access)

Threema is payed one, as far as i remember?

Signal is dead to me because for multiple month they didn’t update they github, but still rolled update on both client and server. Now I can’t trust them to run the bin they show us on git.

Hmm…i’ve missed that, thx for headsup :+1:

Yeah you pay once but they opensource the protocol of whatever they are using. You have to add someone’s id in other to message them. Does that work the same way for Session?

Sure not everyone will like it. But, I’m just saying it’s possible. I would be okay with it knowing that that is what is done. If I’m on the Internet I know i can’t hide in the closet and do things illegal.

Yeah, pretty much same it’s either id or qr code you can share with your contacts!

I respect Threema a lot, it’s just you know…It’s still hard to get people to pay for anything this days, Session solved that problem with blockchain backed infrastructure that they also use as their basis for onion-routing of traffic, which is very smart.

Sounds pretty much the same. So Session will have the same problem as Threema, not user friendly enough for the average person to use. Also the same reason why 90% of the people stuck to WhatsApp and barely anyone moved to Signal. The sad part is I can’t just do WhatsApp out the door because I’m part of several groups that are of use to me for certain social stuff and they won’t switch because everyone uses WhatsApp and not everyone uses Signal.

Well not the same, since it’s also free

But i see what you mean. Still it’s absolute minimum barrier for security / privacy.
Since people started to accept sharing their phone number with social media and programs - it basically became an iq test.

If whoever i wish to speak with can’t share a freaking id to message me, but willing to sell own and others privacy by sharing phone number…I doubt i wish to converse with such an idiot anyway.

I know, but surely you can though - it’s a matter of choice.

Personally i’d never ever willingly install WhatsApp on my device even if that would mean not speaking with my family (which it’s not of course), knowing how they sell people in China camps by sharing dissidents and protestors information - f**k that Meta and f**k the horse they ride on.

It can’t be scanned first, otherwise it’s not encrypted.

I’ll have to check out session I’ve never heard of it.
I gave up on signal. It wasn’t great and no one uses it really.

Doh … i said it gets encrypted after it’s scanned before it’s sent.

Your Threema id isn’t connected to your payment if that’s what you are referring to.

It’s my only way of keeping in touch with some people and I can’t ask several hundred(in my social WhatsApp group) to please also create the group on Signal. If I were to do that it would mean losing contact with some people that I still enjoy speaking with since they all have busy lives and I normally only see them a few times a year. I’m not ready to drink koolaid yet.

Everyone should start using AI to generate false positives of questionable pictures just to confuse their algorithm.

that pointless.

No no, i know, what i mean it’s a bit more accessible because it’s free (for average Joe who never payed for privacy that’s important)

Yes. Which if already scanned has rendered any need for encryption useless. It’s been broken at that point, and already no longer encrypted.
