I would think the ābenefitā to Gentoo would be your own compilation flags and optimizations.
Void is kinda like a mix of Debian and Arch. Mostly stable packages, but the package manager is top-notch, like Pacman.
Stable rolling release
Void focuses on stability, rather than on being bleeding-edge. Install once, update routinely and safely.
Thanks to our continuous build system, new software is built into binary packages as soon as the changes are pushed to the void-packages repository.
True, but I didnāt see much improvementāat least not compared to the work involved in getting there. I suppose in cases where you need the last ounce out of your system, but I still question the effort involved vs. the increased system useability unless the system in question is older and needs it.
I do use the ALHP repos (V3 & am thinking about V4) & that has helped my system without all the added work.
Really at the end of the day the Distro that is best for you is determined by your own level of controlism.
Sounds like you got the same results as me.
Iām in that boat too (by choice)ā¦Arch
Funny.
I got Manjaroā¦ but I think the questions and options were less than optimal.
very nice way of saying it
What I didnāt understand is that my list had several which had āWe cannot recommend this distro to you becauseā¦ā listed. If you canāt recommend it, why in the name of God did you list it?
And for the record, Debian was #1, probably because I said I wanted stable instead of fast updates. As many have said, the questions and possibile answers were not very good led by the Windows v. Mac question.
First in the list for me was Fedora, which is where I am right now.
Arch was my first response. Seems like EndeavourOS is a good fit
Why Artix ;-;
i actually dont need others to judge my opinions and decide whats the best for me ive found out
- EndeavourOS
- EndeavourOS
- EndeavourOS
- Arch
- Rhino Linux
- NixOS
- Gentoo
- Void
- OpenSuse
- Fedora
Interesting site, got it right too.
Arch > Gentoo > Void > Artix
Although i donāt know void and artix, manjaro was somewhere far down the list for some reason, eos wasnāt on it at all. For my next install iāve been considering Cachy for a while, but lately been thinking maybe Gentoo or FreeBSD.
