After the recent update of systemd to 256-3, suspend and hibernate are not working. The system just freezes (no display).
Hi,
I made a fresh install this morning and am facing the same issue. When I close the laptop lid and then open it, I only see a black screen and an immovable mouse cursor.
Only way to get out is to restart the computer. Iām running the LTS kernel.
What hardware are you guys running?

there is ongoing issue with suspend/hibernate and Nvidia Drivers:
Hello, i am facing this problem as well, but i am running AMD only hardware. I had this happen on both GNOME and KDE.
The symptoms are:
I go to suspend my laptop via the DEās gui and it āsuspendsā. What instead happens is that everything turns off but i can still see the power light turned on and when i go to power it up back again (via the power button, as the other keys donāt work to turn it back on anymore) it freezes up.
One time GNOME managed to turn back on from this suspension (itās not always 100% freeze on my case) and i noticed that the battery drained a lot, meaning that something didnāt suspend correctly, even if it appeared to be suspended (seems the power light did indicate something not go right).
KDE is more likely to freezing up than GNOME.
Im not going to be around anymore in Endeavour for a while because i need a reliable system right now, i really didnāt expect systemd or/and the kernel to be unstable. Im just going to leave my full logs and some theories i have and good luck with this one.
Im suspecting that this is related to Arch having/lacking some kernel/systemd patches because Fedora works just fine, maybe it confirms that instead it is a versioning problem because right now Fedora is running systemd 255.7-1.
But in my opinion i doubt it is related to systemd 256 because since KDE 6 released, i had these suspend problems on Endeavour/Arch with systemd 255 (KDE 6 only), yet on Fedora it suspends just fine.

Without journal logs, we can only use imagination, or the world-famous .
Fixed the issue by setting kernel parameters as follows:
nowatchdog nvme_load=YES nvidia-drm.modeset=1 NVreg_PreserveVideoMemoryAllocations=1 nvidia-drm.fbdev=1
and enabling following services:
sudo systemctl enable nvidia-sleep.service
sudo systemctl enable nvidia-hibernate.service
sudo systemctl enable nvidia-resume.service
I have been seeing this, but I had all the above set (except hibernate as do not use) already, unsure if the last update to systemd fixed it (there were two in quick succession) - will find out when I get home
Same issue here on latest kernel and with nVidia. Latest systemd didnāt fix this for me yet. Not sure if I should go with elrondās suggestion, got to read through resources shared on top over the WE.
Yeh, no fix here either - forgot to post back (football was on!).
New version of nVidia dkms 550.90.07-3 seems to have fixed the issue
I can confirm that the issue is gone for me with nvidia-dkms 550.90.07-3
Here is my log, works perfectly now too
