In Europe cars will get forbidden in 2024
Electric Offroad cars will be it here  :checkered_flag:

I’m not sold on going 100% Electric at the speed in which they want to do this. I think they are attacking the problem totally backwards. We need to use methods that will decrease the use of gas engines over time. We need to use more solar on housing to decrease energy use and also feed power back into the grid. We need to have many more hybrid vehicles and some full electric. We need to have the infrastructure in place for all electric. This takes time. Battery manufacturing is also harmful to the environment so we cannot just totally switch on a dime. I think they need to implement many different forms of reducing our energy needs, better mileage with hybrid vehicles. More public transit in various forms such as more train, bus service to reduce cars on the road. They need a multi prong approach to this problem. Going 100% electric vehicles won’t solve all these issues but will just create others.

Shocker, another laptop. ThinkPad L14 Gen3 AMD. Ryzen 7 Pro 5875U, 16GB ram, 256GB SSD, AMD RZ616 wifi/BT. Once the L14 Gen1 is done getting repaired (webcam) I’ll swap the 32GB ram into this from that and sell the Gen1. I’ve got a 2TB SN740 ordered as this cannot take physically larger than 2242 drives.

It’ll look like Cuba soon. People rolling around in 50 year old cars keeping the good old stuff alive.

They want to do that here in LA. . . and we have rolling brown outs every summer already begging people not to use electricity. LOL I’m not touching an electric car until we have some semblence of the ability to acctually support such an idea. Plus, battery cars are still so environmentally impactful, I can’t support it. The hydrogen cars are doing realy well here, so maybe that’s a possibility. But battery? Oof.

You are my hero. I wish I could own like 1/3 of the computers you seem to get your hands on.

I spend a LOT of time crawling through ebay/offerup/craigslist to find good deals. I was surprised to find this one given it’s still the current model, and the R7 for <$500. In fact, just BARELY over $500 after shipping and taxes. Given I SHOULD be able to sell the Gen1 for around $300-$350, it’ll only cost me like $200 when all is said and done.

I’m so weak…

Newegg had a sale. 2x32GB DDR4-3200 SO-DIMM for $110+tax. So $120. Needless to say, there’s 64GB ram coming for this laptop.

My most recent purchase is an EK-Nucleus AIO CR360 Dark. It’s a pre-order so I can only post a pic from the EK website.

This will replace a Noctua NH-D15, which heat soaks within a matter of seconds under my normal workloads and gets quite loud. Takes longer to heat soak a bunch of water, especially when it’s going through a 360mm radiator. The Noctua will go to a different machine.
