Show your latest purchase! (With pictures)

Not exactly my latest purchase, but today the latest part arrived that was needed to finish the upgrades/repairs on this X260 fixer upper I bought a few weeks back.

It was dirt cheap, but not without a reason. The screen was a 720P TN panel with numerous bright pressure spots, the battery barely held a charge, and the keyboard was probably a chinese knock-off, with a lot of buttons not pressing down correctly, or downright not working.

Over the course of this month I added a secondary internal bridge battery, replaced the regular external battery, upped the ram to 16gb, swapped the knockoff non-backlit keyboard for a refurbished original backlit one, and last but not least replaced the screen with a 1080P IPS panel.

I must say battery life is exceptional with both that internal bridge battery, and a 68+ battery in the back… I get around 14 hours of life out of it when doing normal office tasks… watching youtube video cuts that in half, but that’s still 7 hours of mindless binge watching on a single charge

Whats the whole bike look like?

I will definitely show you the photo.
But the “project” is not finished yet. In a week, two at most, I’ll show you the photo. Honestly

Even the pedals are not the ones that are prepared for the bike

Why did you change the wheels & tires? I have stock bike like this.

Kona. Many people dream about this brand of bicycles…
Answering the question…
Stock wheels were the part that Merida tried to save money on - the carbon frame itself is quite expensive. I’m a heavy rider. So I changed it to stronger ones, so that my head wouldn’t hurt.
The tires were quite good - Maxxis Rambler EXO. But these tires are designed for gravel roads, and on asphalt they do not show the best result. Therefore, I chose this model from Vittoria - it has a smooth treadmill, which is optimal for asphalt.

Huh… Tomorrow I am going to get the long-awaited Alexrims rim (purchased in Feb.) from a spoke assembly specialist. This guy is constantly busy…

I think this chain looks like a KMC X-Series. Pretty hard.

This one is just a hybrid type. It’s not hard core mountain bike just an urban\citytrail type. I bought it last years model in the fall and never road it yet. Rear brake is got low fluid or air in it as lever goes right to the handle without much brake. I took it in to get service under warranty. I hope i get it back soon as they have so much ahead as no new bikes are not available hardly anywhere. Now we are in another month lock down for retail so people will stay home and social distance. Canada is really behind in vaccinations. Everyone is waiting in the que!

I just replaced Alexrims with DT Swiss
But I am well aware that Alexrims makes good rims as well, but in the stock configuration there are usually lower-level components.
I like KMC chains. In my opinion, they have an optimal price-quality ratio.

For ordinary people, a hybrid bike is a good option
I myself considered this option. But there was an opportunity to buy a higher-level bike, and I took advantage of it.
There are no mountains in Moscow either
I service my bikes myself, I like it. Your problem with the brakes is easily solved at home in 20 minutes

My old soundsystem had a breakdown. Today I finally managed to buy a new one (Samsung Soundbar T530)
Way better than TV speakers

It looks like someone was sitting on your package during transport. The second speaker is somehow flattened.

Luckily it is flattened, so it doesn’t take away too much from the picture of my TV. I would not have known what to do if it was higher.

I like your floor. Is it real wood or plastic?

Thx.
It’s laminated floor. Never would use plastic.
If I had the time and a little more money left I would replace it with parquet floor. Maybe next year.

What better place than here…

The keyword you used is “usually”. I replaced my previous DC19s with DH19s, a bit more powerful (almost always asphalt). I used the DCs completely and it served me for many years / thousands of km; so I didn’t want anything else. But I admit, DT Swiss are a class of its own. As for KMC, I switched to kmc 7 years ago.
I wish you a better season than the previous one :leg: :grinning:

Thank you very much :+1:
I just got back from my first ride on a new bike. Very satisfied! He goes, you might say, by himself  Not very surprising, because it is 7kg lighter than the previous one.
The season started with very pleasant emotions :bike:
