Something new to tinker around with: A TinySine TSA1701, which is an 2in 4out DSP based on the ADAU1701 chip from Analog Devices. It could be programmed via SigmaStudio to fulfill various (audio) duties. Therefore, I also had to buy the suitable USBi JTAG progammer to modify the firmware of the microcontroller.

Only downside: SigmaStudio is completely based on Windows and therefore there isn’t a linux-based solution available. Up so far I can run the windows binaries via wine / bottles. But have to check if I can access the USB interface to program the device. If that won’t work, I’ll need to setup an VM. Or I go the lazy route and boot up my old retired workstation which still has Windoof on it.

So what do I want to do with this thing ? Essentially replacing easyeffects - which I’m currently using to apply a parametric equalizer, or better said: room correction equalization.

Currently I can only apply the room correction for PC based audio playback. But not for the other sources of my audio setup.

Never thought about a gamepad as page turner. Makes totally sense for me :+1:t2: :joy:

Well, as I’ve tinkered around with the device… I sadly have to report that the ADUA1701 chip doesn’t provide enough MIPS instructions per second (1024) to process sophisticated room correction filters for both stereo channels (15+ band equalization per channel). The chip itself has to handle the ADC as well as DAC stage of the signal conversion, therefore there isn’t much room for elaborate DSP tasks. E.g. throwing more than a 5 band EQ onto each channel already results in clipping. My current equalizing consists out of 20 bands for each channel via easyeffects (or better said: the linux studio plugin under it’s hood).

Is this a ‘Royal Enfield’ twin cylinder bike? Pretty nice ‘retro’ bike if it is. . .

Rich

Yes, Royal Enfield Bear 650 twin. A nice retro style but with all the nice modern bits well integrated - EFI, ABS, TFT screen, navigation etc.

New EOS plaything: A (used, real good price) Thinkpad T14 (i5-10210U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe).

Fresh EOS/Cinnamon install, and so happy to have a backlit keyboard again!

May I ask where you live, what you paid for and if it was a private purchase?

It was a private purchase.
The monitor did cost 424,90 €.
And I live in the south of Germany near Augsburg.

The question was related to the used Thinkpad T14

Nosy you! But it’s hardly a secret… I currently live in Germany, Bavaria, about halfways between Augsburg and Ulm.

I was lucky: Private purchase from a guy that apparently betters his pension with a little Thinkpad refurbishing (small firm). This was perfectly cleaned, all diags fine, and I paid €190 + €7 shipping. Couldn’t resist, of course. Honest seller, love that.

Is that a CPU Fan cooler with a heat sink sitting on a box of a worn out Mini PC?
