I’m also eyeing a keychron k5 myself. But there’s plenty of life left in my mx. I need to buy a few new keycaps. They go for an absurd €6 a pop but hey. I get the brand new feeling back. I hope I get at least two more years out of it. Got 4 already
I just picked up a Keybhron Q6 Max and it’s a fantastic keyboard. I wish I would have got one sooner.
A San Martin SN0129-G-D arrived yesterday. A rather attractive watch from one of the best Chinese watch companies. With the recent Aliexpress sale, I was able to stack a few coupons and get it for a very nice price.
39mm diameter, Seiko NH35 automatic mechanical movement, enamel dial. Fit and finish are impeccable, better than a few “microbrand” watches that I’ve paid far more for.
The lume is quite a sight, it brightly glows a slightly greenish yellow:
I’ve decided since my t480s has essentially turned into my work laptop. I “NEEDED” (yes, absolutely needed) a new laptop. So I decided on the best one ever made.
A t480. I found this gem on ebay for $125, but since they sent the wrong one (it was supposed to have backlit keyboard) they knocked $25 off. So, $100
And because I love upgrades, and actually putting together a computer, this has been fun.
So far:
Sabrent 2tb gen 3 nvme
WD 520 256gb 2242 nvme in wwlan spot
Patriot 2400mhz 64gb ram
Intel AX210 wifi module
new internal/external batteries
Colorful chicony 01ax487 keyboard from t470
glass clickpad from thinkpad x1 extreme gen 1
dual tube heatsink from t480 w/gpu
Orange enamel, glowing in a greenish yellow… why do I want to check it with an dosimeter / geiger counter ?
Just kidding, looks pretty nice!
Yup, another one. Found a deal good enough that I couldn’t resist.
P14s G5 AMD - 8840HS, 64GB ram, 1TB SSD, 2.8K OLED, QCNFA725 Wifi, 52.5 wh. Only upgrade I did was swapping out the 1TB ssd for the 4TB that was in my P14s G4.
LOVE the way the skin looks, sadly this vinyl is a little too thick to use on the touchpad (doesn’t register ANYTHING with it on), so ordered a clear touchpad skin for it.
Bought refurbished directly from Klipsch to replace ancient Polk 2.1 computer speakers that developed a hum:
Shockingly good sound and deep bass!
My old estate sale find 15" Velodyne subwoofer also started humming (it had a good long life) and after I couldn’t take it anymore, I replaced it with a 12" (although the box is a little larger than the old one), the RSL 12s. What a huge upgrade in every way, flat down to 16 Hz!
Matches well with my “vintage” Polk 5.1 system (RT1000p fronts, CS400 center, FX500 rears) and Yamaha RX-V3900 receiver
Didn’t had any interface to access M.2 drives for backup / file recovery purposes and such, except the (single) slot on my motherboard. I’m going to equip it with an Intel Optane H10 256GB + 16GB nVME for now. which I’ve also bought, It’s ridiculous for which prices you can get those PCIe Gen3x4 nVMEs with 3D cache. As I’m on a AM4 platform, I wouldn’t benefit from PCIe Gen4 drives anyway.
Last but not least, also grabbed a SanDisk Ultra stick which has an USB-C as well as USB-A interface. As the largest stick I had actually is… almost 10 years old or so ?
I will install a minimal system on the external nVME to tinker around with different DE / WMs… still eyeing the sway community edition of EnOS.
Up so far, it worked directly without any issues. But some complains about that UGREEN enclosure. It was not clear to me that this enclosure internals are completely injection molded parts. They do include a thermal pad for the nVME. But you’ll have to source a heatsink yourself, if one is required (e.g. for continuous use and nVME that tend to generate more heat). Also the spacing is pretty tight. I may have trouble to install my systems nVME in this enclosure. without the need to remove the double-sided heatsink that currently installed on it.
On the other hand, it was 50% off MSRP and not really expensive anyway.
Quite good that game. Especially if you’re someone who likes to explore different story lines / alternate paths throughout the game.
Finally bought Yellow Flame Butane Lighter Insert . Comes with flint. Happy with it.
These DVD/CD writers have gotten dirt cheap. This one from LG was $30 (U.S.). I’ve got a lot of CDs to digitize to FLAC for the PC.
Hello!
I bought a new case for my computer, it’s the Morpheus from Deepcool. I wanted it because it fits 200mm fans and otherwise they just lie in the cupboard instead of being used.
This is what the inside looks like. I took the picture quickly and it looks a bit untidy. Sorry for that.
Update 16.04.2025:
Added another NF-A20 PWM to the buttom and I placed 3 strips of EPDM cellular rubber with a height of 1.2 cm under the fans to give them more air. I added also the GPU holder from Sapphire.
200m? Now my Fractal 180 Dynamic PWM are jealous. Well, at least they are thicker and 4 of them…
That looks like a very potent Aircooling there, take that you AiO watercoolers!
Just like mine … similar case and same dual fan & heat sink? I found it to be quite heavy after. Did you use the 140 mm fan set up? I can’t tell by the picture but that’s what i installed. It’s massive!
