Well, in my case it has been an obvious choice for a trackball due to carpal tunnel syndrome a few years back. The M570 is quite nice but I’ve worn out one already and the second one also is a few years old.
Yer I tend to use keyboards and mice with a similar layout to my previous ones my condition is more mental than physical but devices similar to what I have used before are what sell to me. (think I wrote this message4 to 6 times) (I hate when my brain tells me jumble is ok)
I totally can relate to that. As I’m sitting here using the very same keyboard which I’ve used for the past ten years and of which I own 4 different ones of in total. 2 in working condition, 1 in use. 2 as spare part donors. Which went bad in that span of time (spill of a cup of coffee )
At least I learned from the past experience and switched to a different kind of mug which doesn’t tip over that easily
Anyway, that keyboard setup is also subject to change, as I’ve got a different one already ordered. I’ll give it a try for at least a week and it might take some time to adopt to it.
For the trackball instead, it seems that the change will be rather uneventful as it’s almost the same shape, just a different stance due to the tilted base plate. And it feels directly way more comfortable. Which is quite a nice surprise.
I still don’t get it why they didn’t designed it around the CM4 modules.
That would be quite nice for future upgrades.
True, i got this just to play around though so updates aren:t too important
I found self-adhesive, leather look/feel rolls of vinyl for a good price. So if the adhesive is good (but not TOO good), I’ll be able to do faux leather skins on my laptops in a few weeks.
I’ve been using one for almost two years. I did find an issue booting from an external drive and had to add a couple things to the boot files. I have EOS arm Xfce4 installed on it.
I have just Batocera on it for now but want to try out a few distros (eos included for sure)
Nice, I have a 6800XT and I have had zero issues with Linux, at least since I started using Linux on 16th June 2024. Everything works and no issues regarding Graphics.
Even on Windows I had that 6800XT for 2 years prior and had no issues, despite people still saying the old story of AMD having bad drivers, but that never occurred for me, even playing games at 4K raytracing I haven’t had any crashes.
My old Asus 6900 XT had black screen issues on Windows but that could’ve just been an Asus moment. It also ran hot and loud. This Sapphire 7800 XT is completely quiet, cool and stable both on Windows and Linux.
I have to admit the 6800XT I have is a Sapphire Nitro as well like your current card. It is also quiet and doesn’t run hot, I haven’t had it go above 70 Degrees C while playing a game yet. Sapphire usually is well regarded for AMD GPUs.
My previous card to that was an Nvidia 980Ti which was Asus and that also ran loud and hot with coil whine which I don’t get with my AMD card. I hope you enjoy this card and works well for you, so far Radeon has done well for me.
Yes, heard many good things about Sapphire, constantly recommended them myself and the brand of choice for my next Radeon card was a no brainer. Very satisfied so far.
My birthday was in August, so I ordered myself a monitor upgrade (a 34 inch curved screen) for the first time in 6 years (when my monitor spontaneously died) in August. I’m very pleased with it…a new monitor makes the most difference in user satisfaction (imo) of anything you can do (assuming your current monitor is old).
Yesterday, I decided another 2 TB nvme drive would be nice…and I was placing an amazon order anyway and needed more $ for free shipping, so…I ordered one. That will bring me to 4.5 TB on SSD and 8 TB of HD on the system that I built in December. (no pictures of either one…since I will assume everyone knows what a monitor or a NVME drive looks like, neither particularly pretty as an item).
Like the Sapphire brand!
I have a Sapphire Pulse RX 6800 XT. Not too loud, unless you ramp the fans. Usually gets max 80 C, but still quiet. Ramping the fans a bit gets the temps nice and cool and the noise is still not bad at all.
I get some issues when quitting my windows VM, the host also shuts down. I don’t believe they happen because of the GPU, but how the VM works.
I’ve got the Sapphire Pulse RX 6600, as I’m on a budget… and due to length limitations of the case I’m using. It fits only cards of up to 200mm in length.
Anyway - with the stock fan profiles I’ve had pretty high temps, even at idle. I switched to a custom fan profile, using CoolerControl (AUR)
Just avoiding that the fan speed won’t drop blow 20%
I cannot hear my fans whatsoever and I haven’t had this GPU go over 65C in any situation, even at the full 288W this card is bumped to by Sapphire. They are quality - and more importantly, very easily replaceable fans.
