I like one without a DE…
Openbox
I also like most of the DEs, especially those I can fiddle with…

I didn’t do anything with it. Just testing.

I’ve only ever used zentile on xfce, I’ve never tried gnome/cinnamon. I’ll give it a go eventually. Thanks!

I think I’ve found my second home. I’m very much enjoying GNOME 40. I added popshell tiling. I really like the gestures. It’s everything I wish GNOME has always been and has always dissapointed in years past. Very awesome. Such a great distro and a job well done all.

It is nice to see people liking gnome 40. Maybe I should give it another go.

I use every new release, the longest I lasted before frustration set in was a week. I have been using 40 since its release. Just one minor excursion to leftwm, for a few hours

Then gnome-shell 1:40.0+67+g79acae417-1 release did screw some themes up, that worked before, especially in overview.

What made you switch from KDE to GNOME?

How did you add popshell tiling?

get from git…

A second computer I use to pay around with all DEs/distro hop. It’s GNOME for now and will be for a while. The more I know, the more helpful I can be when folks have questions. I kind of like it though for the gestures. I still hate extensions so until that mess is sorted, GNOME will never fully be my daily driver.

I use KDE 90% of the time and won’t be changing anytime soon. I didn’t go anywhere. It’s on my Thinkpad everyday computer and it works way way too well for me to deviate any time soon.

I will admit it doesn’t work perfectly yet (resize for instance).

Exactly. I always try everything these days just to give it a fair shake. I use everything. But really, I never stop using plasma.

If you haven’t tried it, I’d definitely recommend it. It’s by far the least worst GNOME experience for me so far.

I just like bright themes better:

On wayland or X11 ? Had zero trouble both.

I assume wayland. I didn’t change it from whatever the stock EOS would have been. Laptop is dead and the charger is too far for me currently, so I can’t actually look. I’m currently trying to find somewhere somewhere online to watch the F1 Portugal race that’s about to start!

Hope you find . Enjoy race :+1:

Just Plasma with some mild customization. I was also on the GNOME 40 train because it’s pretty unique, but the fact that it runs xorg rootless which breaks nvidia overclocking completely, and nautilus being the worst file manager in existence made me switch back

I do miss the overview though, parachute just has too many issues for me to use it.

I did try it when it came out. It’s not really a bad experience, I just liked the old workflow and the new one is pretty much the same as other desktop environments, except with extensions. It does look pretty slick though. I think my next DE is going to be Plasma, I haven’t checked on it in a while; or maybe cinnamon

Yeah, pop shell has issues with wayland still; there is an open issue for that.
