So you got the same card but a newer model i assume. How long have you been running it now without any issues?
Around a week and a half I think. No trouble with the known games so far.
right the day when i wrote this i got another greenscreen ~ very nice.
pacman does not find opencl-amd
I tried to install all the packages you named and got this as result.
$ sudo pacman -S opencl-amd lib32-vulkan-radeon vulkan-radeon lib32-vulkan-icd-loader lib32-vulkan-radeon vulkan-headers vulkan-icd-loader vulkan-radeon vulkan-tools clang lib32-clang lib32-libva-mesa-driver lib32-mesa lib32-mesa-vdpau lib32-opencl-mesa libva-mesa-driver mesa mesa-demos mesa-vdpau opencl-mesa

These packages are in the AUR & pacman command doesnāt install AUR packages. You have use yay.
yay -S (packages)
i installed the packages above and replaced the ram. had 230 memtest85 errors after 2 testruns. was a longshot and iāll see if i have some gs againā¦
If you run memtest there should be zero errors.
indeed. The new ram I got does not yield any errors.
But the Greenscreen happened again anyways.
So the ram is not the source of this Problem.
Have you tried mesa-git yet?
I also have a RX5700 but so far no green screens. It is possible that you have a different revision with different components thoughā¦
i did try mesa-git already yes. It gave me horrible performance in anything that i wanted to run.
a different revision⦠hmm most likely the build is different yea. i got the asus dual fan version.
P.S. The best advice I got so far was to use windows instead~
Note that the master branch of mesa from which mesa-git is built, gets tens of updates every day. Maybe you can try it again.
will get it installed now then and report back.
So i have the Git drivers running the last two weeks. Had no green screen problem until today. Sometimes a few games made the gpu shut down, power up and shutdown again.
needed a shutdown by force/ same as greenscreens.
So i still got a bit of wondering going on. But as ther is no way to have it fixed iāll wait it out. nothing else to do as of now.
If it is indeed a mesa issue and not a kernel driver problem, you can always report the bug to upstream mesa with detailed debug info: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/issues
sadly i have no info at all. it is basically just play and wait for it.
i canāt see the error it throws since the pc just is a goner when it happens.
Iāll try ti get the logs saved somehowā¦
Quick question, do you happen to have Tear Free rendering enabled? Also what kernel version are you using? Try Kernel 5.6.19 or if you have Tear Free rendering enabled try disabling it.
Ive been encountering some issues with recent kernels and im narrowing it down but i THINK it might be Tear Free
i do not have anything but the standard kernel.
keeping that version as new as the update gets.
tear free⦠i would not even know where to look for that.
The only Thing helped so far was down-clocking the cards gpu and ram speed.
Thought having 2 screens enabled brings the same issue again.
Not qualified to troubleshoot your issues - but I can help with ātear-freeā
I ran into some trouble with an AMD video system, and had to enable tear-free. So here it is.
AMD tear free
Assuming you have amdgpu as a driver, if you pop the following file in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d, calling it 20-amd.conf
Section "Device"
Identifier "AMD"
Driver "amdgpu"
Option "TearFree" "on"
EndSection
Hope it helps. With that part of the question, anyway!
ill insert this to the folder and see to it. but i kinda am over it with all the shit this garbage card has caused me. as long as it kinda runs stable i m not gonna modify stuff again. not worth the time anymore.
Thank you for sharing the answer to the issue with tearfree
Makes me wonder if you got a lemon - I havenāt heard of much going wrong with themā¦
Especially irritating when you go that ābigā for performance. I do fine on an RX-580 - fastest thing I ever had!
