Whatever the reason they aren’t as bad as they could be with the fan game scene, they rarely do takedowns and even when they have someone else has almost always come along and taken over the project. I think the worst takedown they did was reliccastle.
The world is starting to get pretty big now. About 60% of it has encounters and trainers. 3 boss fights implemented, 2 have special rewards 1 I haven’t worked out what the prize will be yet. Lots of areas to explore that aren’t directly connected to these maps also.
A female counterpart, Sunglasses Kids (trainer class - it’s hard coming up with these)
A bit of a better preview, will do another later (having a relaxing day today and getting a few drinks soon so just going to do some play throughs of it to look for out of place tiles and other bugs)(Didn’t show the area that Pokemon are available to find as it causes the game to crash at the moment as I have not set up the locations on a town map yet)
Master Roshi spotted!
Yup, have some digimon and yu-gi-oh sprites to that I’m yet to implement too, got a few more dbz ones too (also not added yet). Was chatting with my mate before and going to keep the name as is also. The whole point of this is for me to learn new skills to be able to make my own game and projects at school was a big way I learnt (I could learn in class but struggled at times with the delivery) when I did a project it was normally to base something around an idea (can’t think of a better word) and I would always get good marks on them as I was able to learn much better when I sought the knowledge rather than have it forced. BTW have a demo that is pretty much ready the main blockage right now is being able to make it into an appimage, I keep getting weird bugs when I try and am still waiting for an answer on a few forums about how to do this. Game runs perfectly through WINE though I don’t really want to release this way.
Yeah. Learning from the work of others is usually a great way to pick up on good practices.
Are portable ZIP packages easier? Like “.sh
” or “.run
”.
Either way, no rush.
Considering this also.
Fight Club the unconnected map is the boss room which you need to find the right object to interact with to access.
Rave Cave minus 2 of the boss rooms as I am going to be redesigning them.
funny, i am also wokring on a pokemon rom hack; however starting decomp hacking is really overwhelming at times. Some things work so far, some not. Wish you all the best for your project, it looks super promising!
Thanks. I looked a doing a ROM hack but it seemed like a bit too much for me to get my head around so I went this way with it. Wishing you well for your project too.
New trainer/overworld sprite.
Found a handy script (here https://github.com/FL-/Essentials-SetControls) to set the controls in game and converted it to a plugin (way easier than adding in RPG Maker XP. Still have to change the colours of the in the menu but makes things a lot easier (especially on Linux, I’ve had issues in the past with the default way to change the controls).
Add in Unreal Time (Now I might change the encounters to be day and night, before I just had them appear all the time because I hate when I have to be in a game at a specific time in real life) and also a Type Quiz both scripts are by the same person as previous post FL.
If no is selected.
Going to play around with it and maybe set it so there is an option for how many questions you want to answer and a prize depending on if you get them all correct or not.
Close enough for now, will fix when I fix up the rest of the text colours.
Couldn’t wait looks a lot nicer now and the option to change the controls in game is now available from the start screen, have to figure out how to remove it from the main menu (a much later job). Want to customise the background a bit more too and change the text to be a little less bright.
Female counterpart of the Trenchcoat trainers
New boss sprite, Crazy Cat Lady
Fight Club is now fully set up, requires 2 switches to be hit to access the boss room (might have to change his team, I will try it with a proper playthrough before deciding though).
1 more outdoor area also added and a bit of a bar/nightclub cos why not (and I wanted to test a couple of things)
Video of lighting in bar/club and fight club coming soon.
