No more Crucial RAM

The AI Hype is driving me nuts. Hopefully the AI bubble pops soon :slight_smile:

Hello @moxdrox!

@thefrog already posted about it.

Oh, i overlooked his post :frowning:

Oh crap. This aint good news. Now we are left with cheap-low-quality-chinese stuff only. :sob:

Samsung produces their memories in china, philipins and korea if i am not wrong. But they have good stuff too and never failed me. I am a big fan of their products.

Fixed this for you. Unlikely it’s going to be cheap again anytime soon.

Dell always seemed to make a big deal about how Crucial was the only RAM they supported. Maybe I was mislead on this but if so I wonder how this will effect office computers.

None of the Dell e-waste machines I have bought came with Crucial RAM and they work OK but when I have done upgrades I always bought Crucial. Bit p/o about it now tbh!

I always hit the reply button on the last post and not the bottom of the page. Sorry about that.

I m just waiting for the Frankenstein AI from some anonymous bad actor :face_with_peeking_eye:

I really hope the AI bubble burst as soon as possible :sweat_smile:

Have you seen the series “Westworld”? It’s not that far-fetched. Unfortunately, every AI fart is celebrated as if it were pure gold.

Has it ever been any different?

Only if someone from that messed-up future is sent to us to stop the rise of AI. I look out the window every day …

@thefrog or @moxdrox or @ [anyone here]

one article says “getting out of the memory business”

the other article says “getting out of the product business”

Only one of these can be true. This is the same Co. that makes SSDs? My first SSD was a Crucial and I’ve been happy with it.

I have a new Crucial 250GB in my Ebay cart (at a great open box price) as I’m about to separate Endeavour and Solus to different SSDs and a true dual boot.

What’s my move here? Crucial SSD becomes obsolete instantly?

Thanks for any opinions

I mean, it’s still tht same quality SSD you were going to buy last week, why not buy it?

From what I understand, they’re not out of business. They just stop producing product for normal consumer and focus on corporate client.

As for warranty, I checked their warranty website, nothing mentioned about the changes due to recent announcement (maybe outdated?)

I’m interested to know as well, since my mini PC comes with Crucial SSD and RAM.

I agree with @anon63071375 , if you manage to get a good deal, why not buy it?

My 2 cents.

Get the drive if its in your price range. I’ve had a few drives that were made by companies that are no longer around.

The gamers gamers Nexus thing says they are going to focus on b2b sales. So they aren’t going to stop making ram. They just want to sell units 100-1000+ at one time instead of 1-4 units at a time to consumers. From a business standpoint, it’s brilliant. They can save massively on packaging advertising and shipping which are some of their highest costs since it doesn’t need to look sexy on a shelf.

For us, it blows. Especially since I know myself and many others don’t even want AI. It’s about the worst end result for us. But, they are in business to make money, and if you got a winning lottery ticket, it’s time to cash in.

I’m not a fan of Crucial products whether it be ram or SSD products. I’ve never purchased any of their product in my lifetime personally or through business. If they want to chase the data center market and AI they wouldn’t get my support anyway. There are far superior product available in the consumer market space. I won’t miss them.
