Your right. I think the AMDGPU is less hassle and less power drain than dedicated graphics and they are very good.
Especially given this is the 45W cpu thatās not going to thermally throttle anywhere NEAR as quickly as the U versions.
Lenovo is starting to offer Fedora pre-loaded on some of their models, and I believe they reconfirmed their desire to be Linux compatible from this point forward.

- 10th Generation Intel® Core⢠i7-10610U Processor with vPro⢠(1.80 GHz, up to 4.90 GHz with Turbo Boost, 4 Cores, 8 Threads, 8 MB Cache)
Thatās weirdā¦So theyāre super-low spec, unless boost like crazy?
Doesnāt sound like stable CPU strategy, but thatās just me ![]()
Up to 16GB LPDDR3 (Soldered)
Also that is little weird, soldering DDR3 in 2020 i mean ![]()
Looks about right. Almost all laptops, especially small laptops have soldered ram these days. I love AMD, and I love Lenovo.
That being said, I donāt buy new hardware hardly ever. Itās just too expensive for me when thereās so much great cheap used stuff available.
This seems to be increasingly common. I think it started as a space saving mechanism for the ultra-portable laptops, but I am guessing the manufacturers found it to be more cost effective - direct soldering the memory to the board (1 inventory part and 1 assembly step) vs soldering a socket to the board and installing the memory (2 inventory parts and 2 assembly steps).
What would be your verdict if you were to choose between the Lenovo and the Tuxedo (second cofiguration)?
No no, i mean specifically soldered DDR3 in 2020, why not DDR4 ?
Thatāsā¦Weird)
Unless someone else replicates the keyboard, I will probably never buy another laptop that isnāt a Thinkpad. I do really like the tuxbooks though.
left over parts? surplus? cheaper than DD4 and a spec level that the common consumer probably wonāt look at or understand the implications of?
⦠and still keeping marketing happy with āmore GBs!ā
Me too! Specially when it comes to upgradability.
On the plus side for me when it comes to the Lenovo, is that I could just get it (when it is back in the stock) from my local computer shop and then not worrying about the hassle of mailing back and forth etc. if something is or will be wrong with the Tuxedo.
Yep, aināt that feels like a proper slap in a customer face
Whatās your top budget btw?
I would have voted for the X1 myself. I am a trackstick addict. Iāve had good luck with the X1, we got one of my daughters an X1 in 2017 when she was starting school. She is finishing a pre-vet program this year, so the X1 has seen daily use at the university research barns, been through 4 years of being hauled around in backpacks and stored in tack trunks at horse shows, and we havenāt had a single problem with it. Unfortunately, itās running Win10, but I can attest to the durability of the hardware.
If I squeeze my wallet, around 1200-1300 euros. Anything beyond that would be hurting a bit
Thatās why I buy used. I certainly canāt afford an X1 carbon. Yet thatās what I use most if the time.
Couple of moths without booze? ![]()
Naaah, who needs hardware anyway! Itās in my head!

Sure. I could probably stop wasting money on food and water too.
Also, no need for drastic measures since I do that have an X1.
