That is also pretty questionable, but in reverse
If that’s true however (doubt it, small laptop would burn) - that’s super-RAM.

Wonder what timings though

Lenovo says:

Up to 16GB LPDDR4X

Can’t see any more info there:

Yeah it’s 4266MHz LPDDR4X according to Lenovo’s website. Doesn’t list the timings though.

Apparently it’s called Ideapad in some countries and Yoga Slim in others? It’s quite confusing.

I’ve owned 3 Lenovo Yoga’s. I’d say avoid it. I hated all 3. Loved every Thinkpad I’ve owned, hated every Yoga.

Holy Moly…That’s insane frequency for laptop, most insane i’ve ever seen!
I bet timings are high, but at such frequency it may be little less relevant…

Thanks @ricklinux!
I need to do some serious research as the alternatives seem endless. Decision making…

Yoga’s 512 Mb memory on GPU is a little too small this days, but i guess it’s no gaming machine anyway

MOSTLY I’d agree, but ugh on the 15.6"…so bulky and IMO at only 1080P 15" LCD’s start to get a bit too large for comfortable working at arms length, they need 1440P to me.

Now, THIS one…

How about this configuration (more or less) from Tuxedo:

RAM is worse now (if Yoga is for real)

Also i’d use 32 Gb, since you can.
And what about GPU, only through CPU?

Or witth AMD Ryzen 7 4800H (8x 2.9-4.2GHz Eight-Core, 16 Threads, 12 MB Cache, 45 W TDP)

It’s a little more expensive, and might have shipping… Doesn’t come with Windows which is worth something. It’s only Ryzen 5 and 6 core 12 thread. I don’t like the Intel wifi. Although it is the newer standard AX but you have to have the equipment that is AX also. Everything else seems okay and it does give an extra year of warranty but i don’t care about that too much.

Right, why not. Would be the better option.

Unfortunately looks like so. Can’t find any config with dGPU.

This one is more comparable so it would be a better deal but i don’t know those products.

Edit:
I can only go by specs.

Not me either really. They look like quite compelling contenders. I know that they have some deal with Manjaro and ship some models with it preinstalled. I should do some research on them and see if I can find some reviews.

@pebcak
It also depends on what you want. The 4800H is higher processor and uses more wattage. Than a 4700U which is geared to lower power consumption The H series is geared more towards gaming. 35-54 watt range. The 4700U is 10-25 watt range.

Right! I don’t do gaming at all . I would just to have some laptop with better performance in case I get into learning how to code, compile, build packages etc.

I’d usually say

But without dGPU it doesn’t matter that much…
To play 4k video both should do fine
