My first attempt with Linux

Hello EndeavourOS community! This is my first attempt using a Linux OS. I’m reading a lot of guides and decided to try EndeavourOS because the community looks a lot active and helpful.

I’m a professor in a very poor country and want to teach my students different ways of looking into technology, so I wanted to change myself first using a free OS.

Probally gonna do a lot of mistakes and will have so many questions in my way to learn Linux.

I’m learning english too, so I hope this journey turns into a great learning process!

PS: I’m using a Acer E5-575G-57D4 for reference, hope I don’t get any troubles with drivers. downloading the OS now and will update this topic ASAP.

What a marvelous goal, to help yourself by helping others.

Feel free to ask any questions you have, there is no such thing as a dumb question here.

To err is human, to really mess things up is a Linux enthusiast?

In all seriousness, this is a great place to learn for anyone willing to put in the effort. Welcome aboard!

Hello and welcome! EndeavourOS is doing great things with creating documentation and community engagement like this forum. That said, it’s based on Arch which has one of the best resources for Linux knowledge IMO, the Arch Wiki. For example, it doesn’t list your exact model but it does have a similar Acer laptop that seems to run well. If you don’t find an answer here or in Endeavour’s wiki you may want to check Arch documentation as well. Or you can always ask here or on Telegram.

Best of luck with the switch!
