Yes
You may need to add another kernel parameter that you don’t have in the default grub command line and update grub. Well see after.
Just to clarify …i did install eos on my desktop(mbr) yesterday(after fighting with the laptop) with the same liveusb and it works fine.
But iam reinstalling it on usb ..so if any issues existed …they should be gone
What works fine?
Yep
Now my installation is done…yet to restart
EOS should not be installed in MBR!
Windows is installed in UEFI not MBR. Your install of EOS should be in UEFI! I don’t know how you are installing it in MBR?
I have another pc with windows on mbr …pretty old one.
Ok now on the first boot after install …still stuck.
Tried gnome…this time
Are you able to get to a tty? ctrl alt f2 Log in as root.
Nope
Got stuck like this
What i wanted to do was add this to the default grub command line in
/etc/default/grub
Add
amdgpu.runpm=0
Then save the file and update grub with
sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
If the computer won’t even log into a tty the only way would be to use the live usb and arch-chroot and then modify the config files and update grub.
Edit: This is the only thing i can think of right now trying as you have Ryzen 3550H with onboard graphics and a dedcated amd graphics. There may also need to be some other config changes?
Hold on …one sec …
My fast boot was on…sorry
Secure boot and fast boot should be off. Also in Windows there is a fast start up faeture that should be turned off also as it uses hiberfile and causes problems.
Yep on it…will reinstall once again
What do you mean?
Will it work if i just disable them now
If secure boot is off should be fine. Was secure boot off?
Yes
