While I was tweaking Mate in order to make it look like - as closely as possible - to Xfce, I noticed Mate-Menu (the only one you can change icon menu easily) needs svg version in order to work correctly.

I wanted to reproduce as closely as possible Xfce version of EndeavourOS but with Mate as a basis.
Here is the result, not a 100% perfect copy, but it better than nothing

Icons in png format cannot be displayed correctly, as you can see. It is ugly

I don’t know, not everybody uses or needs those, so it is an unnecessary feature for a lot of users.
Well… It won’t take a lot of space and it could be useful if you want to provides customized versions of Mate or Cinnamon for example
