Some good stuff in there. Hopefully a good chunk of it gets implemented.

Many people would appreciate full multi-monitor support.

Multi-monitor stuff finally works properly

We plan to focus quite a bit on resolving multimonitor issues this year, and some of that effort has already borne a bit of fruit so far. But there will be a much heavier focus in 2022!

Nice :yum:

What is actually wrong with multimonitor support in KDE Plasma? I have two monitors, and I have never experienced any issues with it.

The two things a hear complaints about on a regular basis are tied to having monitors of differing resolutions and issues when you frequently connect and disconnect monitors as you would with a laptop.

You know what, FROGGE! :frog:
Different dpi obviously…all DEs have some degree of problems with that task :upside_down_face:

Ah yes, I have two identical monitors that are always connected, since this is a deskop. That might be a reason why I encountered no problems.

In any case, I would be bothered by the lack of symmetry, using two different monitors.

Sounds like perfectionist’s hell :japanese_ogre:

How would I know which one to put on the left side and which one on the right side? There is no good solution here, no matter how hard KDE devs try.

Also, I hope they will continue to support xorg for a while still, since I’m still waiting for someone to implement a functioning alternative to xeyes on Wayland…

Since their stretch goal is to have viable Wayland support by the end of 2022 I would say they will still be supporting X for a while.

This week the last piece of a major project almost five years in the making was merged: PolKit support in KIO! This allows Dolphin and other KDE apps that use the KIO library to to create, move, copy, trash, and delete files in non-user-owned locations! It took a long time but we finally got it.

Oh wow! Finally.

This actually makes GUI file managers useful. I’m not sure I like that

It is about time

This is great news. It should mean that over time many KDE ecosystem apps that use KIO should also get that functionality.
