I find Alpine linux to be a great alternative, it is more of a start with nothing, do it yourself type os but alpine with sway, is a nice simple machine.
Good job @Dinomonster, you broke the server!!!
The nice thing about this being Arch based is that it is easy to remove the EOS parts out and run a plain Arch system from the one I am already using. I believe this was the thinking behind LMDE is that Linux Mint wanted to have a backup plan just encase Debian went down or became intolerable. Wouldn’t be a bad idea for someone to make a script to de-EOS the system just in case something does happen. It could also be another slick way to install Arch.
I had a secret crush on this thing for so long. APK is as genius as pacman. You install in such an unorthodox way like Linux-from-Scratch. First thing I did was install sudo since I didn’t want to learn doas. Having a distro with no glibc with all MUSL libraries felt like such a secure place to be.
So much fun. especially the DIY.
It’s a very secure server. But a daily driver as a desktop?
I didn’t like the very plain versions of the DEs. Shallow, I know.
Believe I saw one mention of an atomic (immutable) distro consideration.
Might ARM replace X86-64 eventually ?
AI suggests: The most likely scenario is a hybrid future where ARM captures more of the laptop and server markets while x86-64 maintains significant presence in desktops and legacy enterprise systems. Rather than replacement, we’re probably looking at a more balanced, specialized ecosystem where each architecture serves its optimal use cases.
Nanosheet transistors represent the next major evolution in semiconductor technology, marking a critical transition beyond FinFET architectures.
I think I’m with the, “just try to continue as Arch” camp. However, it would be very cool if we could create an “EndeavourOS refugees” forum because this community is so much better than the Arch community ![]()
First I’d figure out a way to affix a black armband to my purple desktop. A suitable period of mourning would commence, followed by acceptance of the new situation. I’ll stay on Arch as it just fits the way I work. Don’t know about a wholesale move to another distro; for now, keep what I have until the urge to explore hits.
It would be End Of Space - where no one ever returned from… the task ahead is seeding stargates…
Is this the dead end of Endeavour OS?
As @ricklinux said, no, this is not the end. This was simply a hypothetical question that came to my mind that seemed anger the Machine Spirits. ![]()
Your timing was impeccable though.
CaschyOS first
It ain’t coming to an end! It’s going to conquer the universe! ![]()
Edit:
Are you onboard? ![]()
You spelled Katy Perry wrong.
