In case of EndeavourOS would come to it's end, what would you do?

Stick with an arch based distro of course :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

@Dinomonster

This thread was created at a perfect time by coincidence, the exact day the website server went down.

That was the reason I’ve chosen EndeavourOS over Manjaro, etc..
99,999% Arch (just in case…).

Nowadays if I had to start over again from scratch I might consider Arch with archinstall or Fedora.

YOU JINXED IT:sob:

Also, I was mid editing of my above comment to add ā€œidk what I would do without it, as this community became like my 2nd family. I would probably just stick with eosā€
But the edit never came through, connection lost eos just went down.

Glad it’s back now

I would change to CachyOS or Gentoo - if Gentoo has an installer.

I would switch to Arch, because I need the AUR, if not, I guess I’d choose Suse Tumbleweed.

Probably CachyOS and or Arch? Hopefully I never have to decide that.

So this is the thing, the reason EndeavourOS is so successful are the people who read and interact in the forums. People who are explorers, hobbiest, tinkers and I bet some of the best in their field. So where ever we gather is probably going to be the next best thing (just look at the number of people over the years who rallied together from both Antegos and Manjaro and today work together to help people).

That being said (if Arch became too much) I would like consider try to live the stable life at Fedora, CatchyOS or Bluefin. But if I decided to live the relaxed low tech life, I would switch to whatever Pop OS (and Cosmic).

yep! i did that after Antergos died. just turned it into straight arch.

over time i grew to love the EndeavourOS community so much, so i added their repos and became EndeavourOS!

Solus without doubt.
Like Endeavour, it does not break easy.
I can usually brick any distro pretty fast but not those too.

Same here. I checked back in with Solus after the great linux-firmware puke of 2025 LOL

There were a few niggly things I never resolved but it was definitely useable. Gnome was quite good.

I might try out Nix or Guix, but chances are I’ll probably just try and maintain the EOS packages that I use.

Honestly, endeavouros did not work well for me. I will be using debian/ubuntu based distros in mpst situations. Fedora and cachyos for others - cachy seems to be a better option for arch based than endeavouros.

But in the end, if it works for you - use what you like (if endeavouros works for you and you like it, go for it)

I am confident I will just return to Arch. Do not think trying CachyOS is a good idea.

The website was resurrected, I already felt a sense of loss, I immediately found this topic. I don’t think EOS would end in the near future or the distant future. If this were to happen, I think something similar would happen with the Arch project. It’s even possible that there wouldn’t be separate distributions anymore. Otherwise, I would probably choose the stable Linux Mint or Debian.

Either just remove the Endeavour bits and go pure Arch but without getting too involved in their politics or just go Free BSD. They are a friendly bunch and it’s secure and stable. There are a few differences regarding licencing but it seems good to me. Either way!

I also like Solus. It’s a great choice.
