Love WM. I switched from GNOME TO KDE to bspwm. I won’t go back to a DE anytime soon.
I’ll never go back to a floating wm/de. These days they mostly are… Exactly the same as years ago.
You can have tiling windows in Plasma too.
Yeah I had been using Krohnkite a lot before switching to BSPWM.
But love something more minimal
My desktop is EndeavourOS!
Well my desktop is kelvins Linux based on Arch
I’ve used i3 since Nov/Dec 2019. I’ve tried switching to Awesome three times in 2020, because I prefer the stack way of storing windows and Awesome is super-customizable. But I gave up all three times. Lua config is a totally different game than i3 config. ![]()
Few days back, I decided to switch to Awesome for the 4th time. Also to make sure I don’t give up, I live streamed myself on my CS club’s discord server. I usually don’t like making a fool of myself in public. But yeah, I gave up again.
And now basically everyone knows I’m an AwesomeWM quitter.
I plan to transition to AwesomeWM completely by the end of the year. (and not use someone else’s configs. I wanna write my own config from the ground up; ofc will use widgets from here and there.)
+1 for loving Solus
I left Solus for Enos in March 2020, but Solus blog is still the first pinned tile on my browser new tab page.
I like Gnome. Tried KDE but didn’t enjoy it that much.
I might try a twm in a VM but it’s too early to decide to switch for me.
Perhaps try i3 or sway there probably the easiest! And welcome to EndeavourOS!
That’s the plan. Thanks for the warm welcome
I just had a look into my Unity DE on Ubuntu 20.04 called Olu-Unity. (You can find it in Sourceforge.) It is still doing quite well. I am not upgrading it to 21.04, but wait till the next LTS comes along, but before that, I’d make squashfs-root file, so I could go back, if something goes wrong. Maybe, I’d work with it for a week to check, if everything is alright with it. It got all the compiz eye-candy, hot corners and work spaces and all that.

If 4 times it doesn’t work the 5th time will be the charm.

Welcome to EnOS’ forum!

As I wrote above, I worked with Unity for last 10 hours. The wifi connection didn’t break a single time. But with EnOS KDE Plasma, the wifi connection breaks from time to time. Back again in EnOS. Got to find out why this is happening. I disabled the KDE wallet subsystem. Let’s see, if this helps.
What wifi chip does your hardware have?
Qualcomm Atheros QCA9377 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter
That’s weird, I’ve had several of those chips, and never had an issue with Endeavour/Arch with them (and always using plasma)
I seem to switch between XFCE and Plasma as far as DE’s are concerned. However, if I want something a little different I also play around with the window managers IceWM and Fluxbox.
I have been switching between Gnome and Plasma but ended up switching to Cinnamon
