If you use the ‘default’ install, you WILL be bloated - but you need not use that. If I remember correctly, if you install ArcoLinuxB, then pick a DE and run its scripts, then add only what you want from the B scripts, you should end up with just about what EnOS gives you. Not quite as easily, but not too bad either (plus 10 minutes perhaps to theme and simplify…?).
I might go there if I had to - but I would still want to take the EnOS repo with me (after all I have it on my mirror machine here!
)
I HATED that ther’es like 10 different iso’s to download. One of my favorite things about Endeavour is that there’s only one download. It’s far less confusing to most people.
Imagine being the guy who keeps them all updated and running! Not to mention the newer ISO takes netinstall to a new level (choices or 5 or 6 alternates for most categories of software, with no explanation of what or why or what they alternate to!). I stand in awe of his work, appreciate the tips and tricks he’s provided, and run EndeavourOS!
Yes, Erik Dubois seems to tap into a, yet unknown to the rest of mankind, source of energy!
Probably Arch but maybe something else. There are lots to choose from if it’s linux.
Edit: I gave up disro hopping!
Mint, LMDE are very good distros.
Maybe pure arch or any derivate of arch, but I don’t ask myself that question, because i have EndeavourOS
Dangit! Now I’ve had to go and download RebornOS and install it to a VM.
Interesting distro name, though. I understand the origin, but it sounds like it should be a Christian-themed distribution.
You are correct with that, the original team had a Christian background. I don’t know about the current team. The current head developer and the PR manager are the only one left from the original team.
Just tried installing RebornOS in a vm. Brings back memories of Antergos because of cinchi. One thing i do not like is Gnome as the base for their install. Tried installing Deepen but it won’t let me log in. Just keeps recycling. Trying KDE right now.
They switched back to Gnome? They’ve putten so much effort to create a Budgie flagship, after Deepin went wonky on Arch.
I thought it was Gnome? Maybe I’m mistaken? I’m pretty sure?
Now you got me wondering?
I think it’s Budgie, they started with Deepin but Rafael, the current head dev, was the main man behind their Budgie version.
It is definitely gnome on the ISO.
That being said, it is a netinstaller where you can pick what you want so I am not sure it matters much.

2nd install of KDE and it doesn’t work! Don’t know why. I wasn’t watching it install in the vm but it won’t start.
Edit: I’ll try Budgie then.
Then perhaps Budgie broke during the Gnome 40 transition.
I did a KDE install, it worked fine.
You have the worst luck with installing things.
Your screenshot looks like Budgie, Gnome 40 doesn’t look like that…
It does if you use dash-to-panel. ![]()
That is the show applications view
Perhaps this view would be more enlightening:
It always happens in vm. Either works perfect or goes south.
Edit: I think somebody put some bad voodoo on me.
