How to switch from Antergos to EndevourOS

if you do not use grub you do not need this step, it is only cosmetic

Thanks, but for me this is not working. I did like you said but when I try to install keyring and mirrorlist via pacman -U I always get:
error: config file /etc/pacman.d/endeavouros-mirrorlist could not be read: No such file or directory
Any ideas?

You probavly added the repo at /etc/pacman.conf before installing the keyring and mirrorlist. You should install before and only then add the repo to pacman.conf.
The order is important and was in the instructions (not explained, but the order is there)

Now you need to comment the repo at pacman.conf, install the packages and then umcomment the repo again.

Since I didn’t know what to do afterwards, I just went to a previous stage via liveUSB and timeshift so that the system is working again.

I tried to stay as close as possible to the steps mentioned in post #51.
If I didn’t get it wrong then it says after removing packages to

  1. comment antergos-repo in pacman.conf
  2. update db via yay -Syy and yay -Syu
  3. adding EndeavourOS at the end of pacman.conf
  4. getting mirrorlist and keyring and then installing them via pacman -U

So at what point exactly should I have done the installing (no 4)?

This post is getting too big and confused.

may helps i am not sure why it is complaining about the file do not exist… but as @GodofGrunts say this will do the job…

Adding a not configured repo to pacman.conf will cause pacman to stop working, even -U option will always get the error.

Need to install keyring and mirrolist before adding the repo to pacman.conf.

this seems legit!

so before you add EndeavourOS to pacman.conf we need to add the key and mirrorlist by installing them!

Yes, i edited the post ā€œ51ā€. Anyway this is a guide, unofficial and is not perfect.

yes but a good directive to get it working… as we can see…

Sure, we both did most of the tests, but we agreed that every antergos install is different, so it’s hard to track everything.
Is indeed a good tutorial and good for people that are really insterested in learning how this things work.
I’m not complaining about our work in this :stuck_out_tongue:

I am not complaining either. Thanks a lot for the work you are doing and a big THANK YOU to @joekamprad who I remember helped me out a lot on antergos as well! I will try again later today and leave a comment on how this will go. Anyways I enjoy learning a lot this way.

OK. This did the trick for me! Thank’s for the advice and for editing the post. I was beginning to feel stupid as it seemed that I am the only one having problems with switching over from antergos. Now I do feel a lot better.

there’s actually no need to use -Syu for yay
yay = yay -Syu
Just saying

well if one read the man page it gives the impression -Syu is needed. But in reality yay and yay -Syu does the exact same thing.

Wow, It’s kind of weird then ahahaha :+1:

do I really need to remove all packages from antergos repo, or just packages with ā€œantergosā€ in the name of the package itself in it? What I mean is, will packages I leave installed from Antergos repo be updated from new repos (endeavourOS or arch) after removing the antergos repo?

best regards,
