@bescott9944 I think you should have uploaded this using pastebin.

https://endeavouros.com/docs/forum/how-to-include-systemlogs-in-your-post/

Just keep this in mind for next time.

Ok I will look at that How-To… Thanks that was a pain… Lol

If you run

journalctl -b > /tmp/journal

Then you run this and it will come back with an address to post where it was uploaded to pastebin.

cat /tmp/journal | curl -F ‘f:1=<-’ ix.io

Just read the above post how to include system logs.

@bescott9944 I was wondering if you could also try turning off your onboard sound in the bios and see if it forces it to the HDMI.

If you get the journal command uploaded maybe it will get looked at later too. I have to call it a night soon.

@bescott9944 I just wanted to ask when you run
sudo alsamixer

Are you able to press F6 and see any other device for sound that can be selected.

I will see if I can…
Goodnight

@ricklinux I installed the pastbin as in the How-To and I get this mesg…

[bruce@endevor ~]$ journalctl -b -0 > ~/journal.txt && pastebinit -i ~/journal.txt -b lpaste.net
/usr/bin/pastebinit:42: DeprecationWarning: dist() and linux_distribution() functions are deprecated in Python 3.5
release = platform.linux_distribution()[0].lower()
/usr/bin/pastebinit:413: DeprecationWarning: pasteURLopener style of invoking requests is deprecated. Use newer urlopen functions/methods
url_opener = pasteURLopener()
http://lpaste.net/new

I did not get a HTTP link like the How-to said… :astonished:
Going to bed too… Later!

I did this and the file is in the /tmp folder in root…
I got this on the other command…

[bruce@endevor ~]$ cat /tmp/journal | curl -F ‘f:1=<-’ ix.io
bash: -’: No such file or directory
??? :frowning:

Sorry i made an error. You have to be root. So you have to type su and go to root first. You may also have to delete the journal file first if it doesn’t let you do the first command. I just went into file system /tmp folder and deleted the file journal. It’s just a text file.
Also when you get the chance please try sudo alsamixer and see if F6 shows any other devices.

@ricklinux Well another day… :sun_behind_rain_cloud:

I turned off the sound card and here are the pics. No,did not default to the HDMI. Did the aplay -D command and sound came out of the TV. The HDMI is shown in the Volume Control Settings as (Off)… Yes, if I select HDMI and play music sound comes out and when the song is done the HDMI goes back to (Off)…

sound card is off…
I can push all the button I want Nothing Happens… Green[00] stays…
sound_card%20off

pactl list sinks…
pactl_list_sink_sound_card%20off

aplay -D command…
alplay_sound_card%20off

volume sound settings…

Well that is it until I figure out how to get the pastbin to work… :frowning:
LLAP

@ricklinux

Yes I can… After I turned the sound card back on…
Pics…

@bescott9944 You can toggle any control by selecting it and using the m key. I would suggest try muting the s/pdif. If it says 00 it’s on if it say’s mm it’s muted. Maybe try also the other s/pdif Just remember what you change and put it back if it doesn’t change anything. The headphones show they are on so select that control and use m to turn it to mute. It will say mm when muted.

Everything looks like it’s there. You could also try switch to HDMI as default.

@bescott9944 When you post anything that is output from a terminal command you should select what is in the terminal and copy and paste it instead of a screen print. You use the tild button and put ~~~ before and after what you paste and that allows it to be seen in the proper output and it can be scrolled in the box.
Example:

I know this is going to sound stupid, but have you tried a different HDMI cable?

Last week, when I turned on my TV, I got crazy looking garbage on the screen which eventually turned to a black screen saying “Unrecognized format”. I was blaming the cable box, or the AV receiver. Nope, after much consternation, it turned out to be the HDMI connection at the back of the TV. The HDMI port is horizontal and the weight of the cable hanging there seemed to make the cable connector droop down. I pulled the cable off, then put it back on and Voila it worked. So I tried another cable which was more firm when I plugged it in and haven’t had any problem since.

Most TVs/Monitors have multiple HDMI ports, have you tried a different HDMI port on the TV or Monitor?

Pudge

@ricklinux I did that and the head phone is off and the HDMI still defaults as off.
I can still select the HDMI(unplugged) and the music plays until the next song and the HDMI goes back to off…
Sorry about the post thing. I don’t do this enough to know what I am doing when posting stuff. I usually use Google and Read forum post and figure it out on my own… 99.5% of the time… LOL

This DOG is getting tired… Something some where in Arch will not let the sound work out the HDMI, None Arch OS’s sounds works…
I am truly grateful for your help and a little sorry that my project became yours as well. I messed with this for a few days before I asked for help… :slight_smile:

I really don’t know where to go from here… BTW I did order the Video cards off of eBay. It just sad that the onboard is a ass and not working…
Take a break and clear your head , I am… Lol

Like I said I can set the HDMI manually and make the sound work from the audio mixer. It just won’t stay on and is still (unplugged)(unavailable)…

I’m going to have some coffee and watch a movie for a bit…
LLAP

Okay well we tried. Putting in another card will be the easiest solution.

@Pudge Thanks for chiming in on the issue… (Project)
Yes I did try 3 different cables that are know to be working by checking them on my other system…
I even got another TV and have used other HDMI ports on the TV… :frowning:

I know that @ricklinux has invested a lot of time in this and you all are trying to help and it is truly appreciated!
Thanks you!
