If the user knows how to find /var/log/endeavour-install.log (and that it even exists), then he probably also knows whether he is using GRUB or soystemd-boot.
Or add a comment to it:
# Hey, make sure you're actually using GRUB as your bootloader before you
# edit this file, otherwise, it won't have any effect. :D
I am no expert with Linux and thought this was a forum to get help, not get judged. It appears I was wrong. Hope your ego’s have been given a boost kicking me around. You know what they say about bullies… " Bullying is a way of interacting by embarrassing and dominating the victim, projecting onto them everything negative that the bully wishes to be rid of in him or herself and making them contemptible and ‘deserving’ – in the bully’s eyes – of attacks and humiliation." Thanks for the help.
I don’t think anyone is really judging you (or bullying you!). I was merely noticing an increase in the number of similar threads where new users do not know that they are not using GRUB, and then there is a dozen or so posts trying to figure out what is wrong, only to discover that it’s soystemd-boot.
If anything, this is a jab at the omission in the EndeavourOS installer, for not clearly informing the users what is being installed. It’s not even that. But it’s certainly not judgemental towards you.
Besides, your problem got solved, so you profited from this. So, why not let us have a few laughs?
Don’t take this the wrong way. I don’t think anyone is bullying you or judging you. If anything they are just pointing out things that matter which help you to become more informed and assist you in gaining more expertise. This is one of the most friendly, helpful forums going. We also like to have a little fun sometimes and banter back & forth. Sometimes we have to laugh at ourselves rather than get angry or upset when someone points out something that sets off our emotional side. You are welcome here and we truly want to help you become a more experienced linux user. Especially on the Arch side with EndeavourOS. Most of us do clown around a bit. Except for @keybreak. He’s full-time clown!
