They are working on it.
I have typically looked forward to Gnome updates, but this one is going to bother me when Nautilus loses the ability to expand directories in a tree view layout.
I mean why is it not on Arch?
Maybe if they make it a desktop instead of trying to turn it into a tablet OS might help. That is my issue with Gnome. Hence why i don’t prefer it. That’s just my opinion of it. Don’t be mad.
Why would I be?
Everyone is entitled to their liking and disliking.
There is no universal law governing that.
Just making sure you know I’m just kidding around.
Edit: I was put on this planet to have fun!
I know
I’ve recently come to the conclusion that I just don’t like qt/KDE app design language at all, not saying they’re not good and even better than some gtk/gnome apps in a lot of ways.
One thing I miss whenever I try KDE is the animations of the windows and UI elements, it’s subtle and subjective but I find KDE very ‘floaty’ vs gnome where elements feel like they have weight and momentum and move with a purpose.
I’m a big believer in just using whatever works for you be it FOSS or not, KDE, gnome etc
There has been quite some chatter about this on the forums I frequent. It seems the Nautilus devs don’t think it is a step backwards at all.
I agree with you, but I want to stay pure Gnome, so hopefully someone is thinking about a hack or extension.
What other file manager can stand up to Nautilus?
Oh I love my wobbly windows and magic lamp minimising on KDE. Very nicely animated.
That feature was the first thing I disabled
As @TurkeyJohn would say
Wobble-Wobble!
I also like those effects in KDE, although it sucks that in the process of wobble you loose blur effect
Not me, I have the blur effect built into my eyes. Myopia is my superpower
Can’t find it in plugins list…How can i install it, biohackerman?
This is one of the best features Kde has along with many others.
I have seen the memes on Reddit and other places about “Where is gnome 43!?!?! on arch”. Clearly, people should send love and positivity to Jan instead, let him know how much you appreciate gnome and his work to provide it to us.
and help on testing it when it reaches gnome-unstable
And there is fabis:
Currently gnome is not even in unstable for default arch…
