GNOME 43 is Here. What's Working, What's Not?

He’s getting older like we all are. What he most likely meant to say was, he accidentally read it wrongly.

@HMS_Endeavour this is the specific version of WebKit used by Epiphany

Very helpful link  Thanks @Echoa

Gnome 43 is out? I’m still at 42.5…

As @Scotty_Trees explained way up in the thread, there is only one maintainer, so you may be be waiting for the 43 point release before it gets into the Arch repository.
I think it will be worth the wait, to get past the bugs so far reported.
42.5 is fine for me for now.

It’s here if you wanted to have a crack before it releases… *usual security/stability/use at own risk warnings apply

Does anyone know if the gnome-unstable repo is “alive and kicking” ?

gnome-unstable

This repository contains testing packages for the next stable or stable release candidate version of the GNOME desktop environment, before they are moved to the main testing repository.

To enable it, add the following lines to /etc/pacman.conf:

[gnome-unstable]
Include = /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist

The gnome-unstable entry should be first in the list of repositories (i.e., above the testing entry).

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Gnome-unstable#gnome-unstable

I have this repo enabled on a test system but I don’t recall I have ever seen any packages to get updates from there.

Also, I don’t see it among the repositories at: https://archlinux.org/packages/

I think they only really get used prior to the updates being moved to testing

Alright. Thanks for clarifying that!

I’ll be keeping an eye on it to see when any packages find their way in there.

:enos_flag: :wave:t5:

Where is Gnome 43? I haven’t seen it… :innocent:

Have you joined the only Arch maintainer for Gnome? :exploding_head:
I wrote to Jan Steffens to help in any way I can, but got no reply. So go figure.

If i had the skills I would be there …

Here, here and here :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

PS. You need to step up your game and sharpen that edge a bit

:drop_of_blood: :hocho:

Not sure what skills they need.

Could be you landed in Spam folder or with the millions daily emails sometimes people do not pay attention. Anyway to join that group online via GitHub or similar?
