Gnome 41 in the pipeline

Been there many times. Will be there many times more. I stick with Gnome because on Fedora it is a very stable experience.

Sources you cannot reveal? What are you like part of some undercover GNOME task force? Are we giving free pass to the GNOME mafia to conduct their business, and then to come in and swoop on the GNOME bust? Are you on the Arch QC team for GNOME updates? Is GNOME really so dangerous we can’t name sources and hide updates until they are “clean for use?”

With each new version of GNOME arch is taking longer to update, waiting a month in a rolling distro is practically absurd. If really wait 41.1, then we’ll only have gnome on arch in November.

By all accounts it’s quite stable isn’t it, I haven’t read anything too negative about it so far

Arch has never released beta or alpha software and never claimed it is bleeding edge.

Gnome 41 stable launched on september, is not a beta software :man_shrugging:t6:

Read again .

https://archlinux.org/about/

“Arch strives to stay bleeding edge, and typically offers the latest stable versions of most software.”

I’m not I a hurry or anything, I know we’ll get it.

Fedora is about to launch with it and that’s about one of the most rock solid distros going.

We’ll get it when we get it

Even Ubuntu 21.10 ships already with gnome 41!

Just kidding  :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

“strives to”, “typically” and “most” are the key words there

Nope!!! Ubuntu 21.10 ship it with GNOME 40.0.4, only 2 or 3 programs in version 41 that I just observed (Disks and Disk usage analyzer).

I’m not in a hurry either, but I think since arch doesn’t make changes to upstream packages, it doesn’t make sense to put off updates for that long.

I can categorically say that GNOME 41 does not have serious issues that prevent this update.

When it’s released, I’ll give it a try…
I never tried gnome before, can you believe that? hehe

If you are so determined to get it early its here

Works fine on my machine as you can see in this pic Their are glitches in Firefox but thats nothing to do with Gnome.

Thanks for the info, i really don’t usually install packages from outside the main repositories i use GNOME 41 in fedora rawhide so i can wait a little longer.

Its simple to uninstall all on the git page

Haha gotcha! I am glad using an arch based distro, have been using gnome 40 for months. Ubuntu just started shipping gnome 40 a couple of days ago.

Don’t mind waiting for 41. Mostly using my i3wm session theses days.

Hahhaah!!! Only later did I realize it was a joke, there’s a lot of hype around ubuntu, I’ve been using wayland since 2013 and now that it’s in ubuntu, they’ll say it’s their innovation, precisely who least supported wayland.
