Fcitx5 does not respect me or my layout configuration

This is mostly a rant.

I’ve updated my system the other day and when I rebooted my keyboard layout was screwed and would revert back to default each time I restarted my system.

Long story short, fcitx5 was not installed correctly or whatever, I don’t know, I’ve removed it. I don’t want to deal with a DE nor that change my keyboard configuration upon updates.

Exact thing happened to me this morning & it completely broke my keyboard layout (Colemak). I disabled both Virtual Keyboard and Keyboard Layouts (which were always buggy) in System Settings and it seems fixed for now. Happened again on reboot so I might just go ahead and remove Fcitx5.

Same thing happened to me. After a system update the “Input Method” thing appeared in System Settings. Ever since then my keyboard layouts I set in System Settings > Keyboard > Layouts, where layouts SHOULD reside, are reset on reboot. I could set them in Input Method but I do not want to use it, I want to use the actual keyboard layouts since it is more visible when changing layouts.
