I recently moved to calyxOS on the Pixel 4a.
Just wondering if our members are using any custom ROMs on their phones?

Have been since Desire HD, before that the ol Jailbreak
I used to, my Galaxy S2 was as riced as possible.
I also run lineage on my Galaxy Tab S2.
But my current phone I missed the boat to unlock the bootloader on my current phone ( Huawei P20 Pro ).
I used to run lineage-microg on my OnePlus 5… I left it because I became aware of some security implications of the ROM mentioned in the link below.
Thank you, Calyx looks very interesting!
So you’re doomed if you’re not on Pixel or on another model of Xiaomi?
P.S. I’ve used only Lineage
Well yes, its similar to Graphene OS.
Where they support only Pixels because you can re-lock the bootloader. Also, its better than Graphene because of optional microg support and the camera in Graphene is unbearable
Samsung A20 Lineage all the way.
OnePlus 7 Pro, Guacamole with Lineage. Android 10.
I used to build custom roms for the Samsung note series and the mi max. Since the note 8 I stopped bothering, there’s not been any new features that have been worth rooting for. Can pretty much do everything you need with adb theses days
I used to flash custom roms, till i got a Huawei phone.
I’ve been using GrapheneOS on a Pixel 3a XL for a while now and I like it. I’ve been thinking of trying Calyx out for its MicroG, does Calyx also have the Network permission option? I find that invaluable on Graphene.
I once tried to install Debian (I think it was Debian or Ubuntu) on my phone. It was a disaster, I just could not get used to it. Now all I do is run a VPN on my phone…
I have been using it since yesterday, am not certain. Better ask about it on the sub-reddit calyxOS.
The way I disable network access for proprietary apps is usually by disabling network access for apps without VPN. I split tunnel the rest of open-source apps to go through the VPN network.
Also, the apps with disabled network access doesn’t have the functionality of accessing the internet through other apps.
Perhaps you’d be interested in buying phones with a preinstalled custom ROM from the e-foundtation.
Looks like your way is likely the most effective for right now on Calyx.
I used to be a custom ROM fanatic. These days I just roll with iOS.
Same here! I took a big step and bought a stupid mobile. Nokia 105. Think it’s the best I’ve ever done. For me it was privacy that played a big role.
I use ArrowOS on my Moto G5 Plus – my first smartphone and my first ROM. None of the big name ROMs support the phone and this was the one out of 4 I tried to work for me. I think I screwed up installing microG, since notifications for messages never worked properly. Still better than stock Android in every way tho, besides the camera apps.
I recently replaced my nexus 6p (crDroid rom) with another Huawei (POT LX1).
I not using the phone very much but the standby time was strange - less than two days after a full charge - so I used adb to decrap the stock rom (a10) and that operation altered the standby time to 10-14 days.
OnePlus 7 Pro with LineageOS for MicroG. Very, very happy with it.
