My ranking would probably be eos>manjaro>arco>arch in order from leanest and easiest to install to less favorable for me though I would be happy to use any of them.
Eos if course my favorite

Philosophically, opinions are worth nothing, because they are not truth seeking. ![]()

Isnāt that an opinion? ![]()
The article you posted is from 2019. I was there.
It didnāt happen.
Then many of us will likely:
use or continue using Arch
Go somewhere else
Fork it and Iām going to call it ānotManjaroā and Iāll just do the opposite of what they do
Edit: also -
Where? I rarely see anything like this. Can you provide a recent few threads where this is true?? Maybe Iām just not seeing them. . .
Strange - I canāt think of any links to Manjaro solutions here either. Lots from our wiki, or other posts on here - and some from the archwiki of course (we are mostly Arch here). Oh - there may be one or two regarding pamac when broken - but thatās where it came from of course.
you funny @freebird54 (think someone say that soon )⦠you all wonderful + make me smile
.
yes i would like to see this ā¦
actually you are right. I would have banned for life by now on manjaro forum.
This is what happenned when i just someone to use eos wafter their optimus-manager broke after so called stable update. I am not able to reply their forever.
Eos provides real freedom. Manjaro was different before this:
https://archived.forum.manjaro.org/t/change-of-treasurer-for-manjaro-community-funds/154888
and i think eos actually got benefitted by this controversey. Nevertheless thank you guys for everything.
What a difference a day makes!
I want to see this too. Consider me pre-subscribed.
but most of the things he says are really controversial.
Agreed. Heās a full time LinuxToober. His income depends on clicks and new subscribers. None of the YouTube channels I subscribe to are boring. āControversialā YouTubers get noticed.
Meh, heās never used Manjaro for any period of time, if he did it certainly wouldnāt be number one.
This is the problem with people who judge the merits of distros by installing them in a VM and spending a couple of hours doing non real āworkā.
Manjaro is the worst Arch based distro, an Arch based distro should really use the Arch repos. Any custom tools or package builds should then be bundled in a third party repo. Manjaroās model is fundamentally broken.
That might be bit harsh - the premise sounds like a good ideaā¦implementing it can problematical though! I always thought it looked good, but I couldnāt buy in to the altered repos myself.
I donāt even care for DT. He talks too much!
Edit: Heās also very annoying!
the premise sounds like a good idea
On the surface, in reality not so much.
implementing it can problematical
It introduces issues that cannot be remedied.
In this instance problems are compounded by additional competency issues for a questionalbe small team with only PC support professional credentials.

Exactly. Youāve just described 90% of all Linux-related YouTube content. Distro reviews by people who do not use them are not only useless, but misleading and harmful.
Youāve just described 90% of all Linux-related YouTube content.
This feels significantly understatedā¦
Well, the other 10% is ā37 things to do after installing <insert distro here>ā (and none of them is ājust use the damn thingā)
I like live installation of LFS youtube video series which is in total something like 30 hours?
Now thatās a review, even before actual use of distro
I stopped watching DTās channel after he did his disconcerting video about gun rights.
Not linking it here. If you want to check it out itās called āIf You Support Free Software, You Should Support Gun Rightsā. Iām not recommending it.
