Are there such things as “Arch commands”? Maybe package management related commands like pacman and some AUR helpers like yay. I can’t imagine a distro where you don’t have to use the command line sooner or later, because some problems or tasks can be solved better that way, or at all. And if one is not interested in learning bash commands one can easily get away with copy & paste.
But in this case you’re better off choosing a full fledged beginner distro instead of EOS.
There are some distros which require no or very little terminal usage. I used Solus for a year on my laptop without using the terminal just to see if it was possible.
As long as the OP wants to learn, copying and pasting is only a step towards learning, of course if there is a will to go on.
Exactly and yes you can, for this reason I always use the terminal and I always refused updates, for example Pamac, besides the fact that I never liked it, I never learned anything with it.
Seeing the progress of the console in an update or in a troubleshooting command is an elixir.
Linux is linux, whichever linux distro you choose, depending on your tastes and skills, it will be a good way to go.
In this case “A terminal-centric distro” might not be the best choice.

Shouldn’t this one be merged with:
On the latest WAN Show, Linus and Luke made a bet that they will daily drive Linux and the one who loses gets a punishment. Linus asked Anthony, the one who does the Linux videos on LTT, his opinion and he said to go either for Endeavour or Pop. Now, my question for all of you, should Linus daily drive Endeavour considering he is very tech saavy, but has never daily driven Linux before? Here is the video pointing to the exact moment.
If you don’t mind, how did you find out about Endeavour, and what made you choose this over another distro in the first place?? What gave you the impression to use Endeavour so you wouldn’t have to use Arch commands?
That would be good to know, seems there are wrong expectations. I see at least 2-3 threads with problem xy, community helps, 24 h later conclusion switch distro.
Linux mint and Ubuntu are ok too. Eos is terminal centric…
Perhaps Sunday is a bad choice trying eos, Friday evening/Saturday is better, more time
no time learn basic commands ! have time for copy & paste off random web site / youtube for pretty look . i no ever understand people .
i wish you well on your linux journey . hope find good distro that fit your need . Arch/Endeavouros still be here when you ready . good luck
To be fair here, consider the position of the OP.
New to Linux, the first time they update their system, they get dropped into a TTY. Now they have no network, no ability to cut and paste and an alien looking black screen.
They type a bunch of different commands at our request and aren’t provided any obvious solutions. They feel like they are in over their head and decide to try something else.
Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with this.

The problem is that then this type of user do that on Manjaro forum, Reddit, etc and continue copy paste and breaking system until something works @Shjim mentioned. Not sure this is a good approach. Not all new users can’t handle eos, it is open for every one to use or not use, totally agree.
But of course there is freedom of choice, other easier gui focused distro may a better choice.
Still would be good to know where such users get info about eos and why they expect not to use the terminal which is odd to me (not specific to OP only).

I don’t think the OP actually makes this statement.
They stated that resolving the issue would require learning a bunch of Arch commands and they didn’t have time for that right now. I don’t interpret that as “I refuse to use the terminal”. I interpret it as “this is going to require to me learn a whole bunch of things and I don’t have time for that at this moment.”
I mean, the issue the OP had wasn’t going to be solved by learning some basic commands.
The OP will have his own management and will see if he wants to continue with EOS or if it gets complicated or not, nobody knows… just help as much as possible, which after all is the aim of the EOS community. That’s all.

I put in brackets

It’s all good. I just reinforced @fbodymechanic question, that there are users popping up who are surprised by having to use the terminal or not having the time or willing to learn the terminal. I also don’t have time but take it, it’s ones personal choice.
So where did they hear about eos and what info? It’s a fair question to ask to my point of view. But I am totally out of topic and it’s not specific to this OP as stated previously in my post. My bet. It also didn’t come across as intended.
I am genuinely impressed by your patience and dedication to help new users including this thread.

i no think this case for this post …
i agree your points blk screen be alien to new usr +
" I mean, the issue the OP had wasn’t going to be solved by learning some basic commands. "
EDit … prob the problem " Also I customized my computer according to linuxscoops videos " guess it theme lightdm or add custom files .

I was terrified when that happened to me in the past. But not any more, since I use eos, I know what to do
Still would be good to know where such users get info about eos and why they expect not to use the terminal which is odd to me (n
EndeavourOS is a rolling release Linux distribution based on Arch Linux. The project aims to be a spiritual successor to Antergos - providing an easy setup and pre-configured desktop.
plus Page Hit Ranking 2 (and the other five distros on the first 6 ranks are advertised beginner-friendly) could raise false expectations.
We do provide “an easy setup and pre-configured desktop” and I would like to believe that we are very friendly towards beginners.
“terminal-centric” doesn’t mean “For advanced users only” or “You can’t use it if you don’t like using the terminal”
I totally agree with you there. I like to recommend endeavour to people who know their way around with a terminal, but are not necessarily Linux experts.
